37.2C and still rising. Breeze has really picked up, garden collapsing, even birds and insects are sheltering.

33C already. At this rate both local and national records could be gone before noon.

Well that's my back garden record obliterated. https://twitter.com/RogerJ_01/status/1549056215023599616?t=i9OeDTUcD_Ih02-XKm2mUw&s=19

It was 13.4°C this morning
A 24C rise is remarkable. Kind of expect it in the Mojave desert but not Irlam.

Tomorrow morning 6am and Met Office are forecasting 26C. Does anybody know the warmest overnight temp recorded in our region?
I can recall June 19th 2017 being really warm along the east coast (20C+ at 4am) not sure if the heat made it this far west.

5 miles north of M/cr Airport and towards the city centre we've just reached 35.6C. Suspect we'll probably reach maximum around 5pm. 37C definitely within reach and with tomorrow forecast to be warmer we could be knocking on the door of an astounding 40C.

Yes, coming out 6 days in advance with amber warning must mean they are more than 50% confident of this or something like this happening now...must admit i didnt expect to see it this early...but given the models recently and the ens support for 20 + deg 850 and relative consistency of these runs i suppose they felt time was right ....
Bit of an odd one with the majority of people having experienced summer holidays in far warmer climates. At the moment the only justification appears to be between T177 and 201 on the 06z. Presumably the real concern is the lack of an overnight break with temperature remaining at 28C. Surely a record?

one day wonder
Hahaha you're far too generous. A sunny afternoon in June and it merits a weather warning. Should have been a warning about some of the sights in our local park.

Currently staying in Corfe Castle, Dorset the difference between here and the North of England is staggering. Brown fields of sunbleached grass everywhere. Spectacular displays in all the gardens, people with homegrown sun tans. Even though there's been a few clouds around and a cool sea breeze when the sun does shine it's really got some strength in it. Managed to get sun burnt in 2 hours. Looks like it's been a great summer in contrast to back home in Manchester where it just hasn't got going. Still can't complain the Scots have had it far worse.

Feels like last night's storm dropped a phenomenal amount of pollen. Double dose of antihistamine this morning just about making it bearable. Hopefully regular doses of coffee will keep me awake.

Sheet lightening and heavy rain. Superb show lighting up the night sky every couple of seconds. Best lightening storm in recent memory.

28c and its not even 10am. Cloud melting away.

18c at 6.30am and met office forecasting a high of 28c in south Manchester. Seems a bit odd a temp rise of only 10c. This can be achieved on a sunny day in January surely with the the sun now being at its strongest we can expect a higher maximum temperature.
-
Lol its even snowing in Blackpool, the I O M and Lancaster
Great to hear. Temp has risen from 1.6 to 2.8C over the past couple of hours. Looks like the warm sector is being pushed south and has now left north Lancs. Another hour and we should all be in the snow.

Great to know Piers has written to Government’s Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBRA) committee urging them to take immediate action. I can sleep easy now.

Temperature has dropped from 5C to 0.4C in south Manchester with wet snow. Just got back from Sister in laws in Eccles noticeably heavier and sticking. Raining in Trafford Park. If you can avoid the urban heat island elevation and intensity seems to be the major players.

4 thunderstorms today kicking off at 6.30am and reaching a peak at 3pm.
Plenty of thunder and a few nice cracks of lightning. 0.48 inches rain p/hr was the highest intensity maintained for about 20 mins just after 3pm.
By far the best show for at least the past 3 years.

Just had a sneaky look at Metcheck looks like there's a good 18cm of snow on its way.
-
Finally some of the white stuff - oh no, hang on its bird 5hit. Getting closer

Nothing yet again. Maximum amount of snow this winter has been half an inch of slush at the end of January. The roads 4 miles south of Manchester aren't even wet. Yet another failed easterly - at only 25m above sea level I think thats it until next Winter.
-
Steady drizzle at Salford quays. Little change from usual just a bit cooler. Not bothered about snow rather see sunshine and frosty night's. Hopefully if ecm is correct should get some hp extending se from scandanavia later this week. Looks promising

Started just before 8am in south Manchester with 21mm by 2.30pm.
Heaviest downpour at 10am with 0.35 in/hr recorded. Although its eased off to 0.10 in/hr its still raining.
Based upon current radar I think we'll be looking at a final total of around 30mm - unfortunately a typical summer's day around these parts :
-
Amazing the difference a few miles makes. 1 mile east of central Manchester in Gorton the snow was 3" deep coming out of the Etihad stadium earlier this evening. 4 miles south of the centre in Chorlton theres just a thin layer of slush. Some of the higher areas in East M/cr and Tameside must have got a real pasting.

Max of 38.2C at 2pm now dropped to 36C.
Lost the southerly breeze more wsw with the distinctive smell of burning grass - possibly Risley? Many years ago I had a morning paper round and I can still remember the hyped up 80F what a scorcher headlines in the Express. Difficult to believe 40 years later we're now at 100F. The rest of the headline is probably still the same
