Fishman reports that in 30 years of driving around the borders, this morning was the worst black ice he's ever encountered. He says from Eyemouth to Coldstream was pure murder.

^^ Casually flipping through my book of "won't be into work today" excuses.
Despite waving the Met Office warnings under some jobsworth nose, he assured me "we'll all be outside tomorrow "

Well the car's white this morning, but the weather station is saying minus 7 which I think is a lie. Puffy will be laughing at me up there, he told me it was possessed

Bloody awful day here, horrible wind & rain. Can I ask a stupid question here --- how or where do I find out what direction the wind is from? Down here it's hard to tell as it gusts around between the houses and the tall trees at the back. I don't see wind forecasts on bbc or netweather radar, just rain.

Wow. We've had steady drizzle, that's all. All day though, but not heavy rain by any means.

Pretty wet and woollly earlier, calming down a wee bit now, not sure if that'll last though.

Very wet overnight. River Findhorn high this morning. No fieldwork here today.
Time all taken up these last few days with huge heifer calf born by caesarian cow milked by hand for two days calf bottle fed, cow grumpy making it a dangerous job. Long legged calf bent in womb finding it difficult to stand improved every day to point where it was chasing me for the bottle last night. Finally could stand long enough to put on cow restrained in crush this morning and then caught on camera drinking naturally off cow in fold. YES!!!!!!! A lot of work to get it to that stage and patience
NL, think if I had a huge calf born by caesarian then I'd be a pretty grumpy cow as well. Well done for helping them xx

Wild and woolly doon here, sunny but very blowy. Too many trees round me here, Think I preferred living out on the moor to this.

Nice day down here, sat out in a friend's garden all afternoon. No geese but a few juvenile buzzards playing overhead.

People all over Scotland in my gardening group are reporting geese going south now. Wee bit early is it not?

Never seen rain like this lot. Woke up a few times through the night by the roar of it! Still heavy this morning with absolute torrents off and on. Think they'll be getting worried up in Ettrick & Yarrow, and Hawick of course. Awful bloody summer.

Same down here, most rain I've seen in the 2 and a half years I've been here. Back garden gravel looked like the bottom of a fish tank yesterday!

Terrific downpour half an hour ago here, the first real rain we've had in ages. Back garden now floating on 2" of water

No wind, little rain here. I think we have a Weather Free Zone around Ancrum!
