If any of this 'lake effect' stuff hits Leicester, I'm going to hear the screams of delight from here!
*crosses fingers for Leicester*

I couldn't be more perfectly in the middle of the 2 protruding sections.
It looks like it stops the other side of my road.

This post in the model thread backs up Chris Fawkes' theory on a more easterly shift.

That wash streamer looks to miss me to the North, reallllyyyyy not been my day hahaha, oh well, I've given up with this spell I think
Hmm, so those in Stoke suggest it's missing them to the South and you're suggesting missing you to the North, so that puts it ermmm, around about where I am...

this reliable? another 'That ECM' maybe, not supported though I don't think, but amazing snow run, no mild
Talking of the ECM, these are projected snow totals for Monday morning from them. Absolutely bonkers!

B'fields shut tomorrow? maybe if we get something from the Wash?
If we get some heavy showers like earlier then it's definitely a possibility. World Book Day tomorrow too...

we did okay I thought? yes nowhere near like other areas, but better than expected, reckon much later from the Wash? we seem well placed
Yes, it was a great afternoon with some great intensity, especially the last one. I was commiserating with VMistry, regarding the Leicester snow shield, we know those shields only too well living in Stafford.

Missed all the best showers and now Thursday and Friday apparently looking crap. Shambles of a cold spell in my location.
Snowy spell or cold spell?
I'd say today has been a great day in terms of a cold spell, with tomorrow being equally cold.

Some extremely beefy snow showers up where i work in Penkridge, South Staffs. They closed the Day Centre i work at early. Old people and snow don't mix to well. Back home now, few showers throughout the day apparently.
At the old mill on Teddesley Road?

Quick video of what it was like here in that heavy snow shower. Visibility was worse for a human than it is for the camera, so this understates what it was like out there. It's a while since I've experienced anything like this!
This was my walk home from school/work earlier. As you suggest the camera seems to lessen the actual scenario

Man with Beard in models thread suggesting that the 0c uppers line won't cross the channel on Friday so any wet stuff will be all white...

Very fine snow blowing around on a light breeze in Stafford. Plenty of cloud coming from the east and passing overhead to the west.

I wish someone in there would explain the use of "correction" - because if it means the models said A, then switched to B, then changed back again to A, then saying the models have corrected to A would be perfectly fine...
I *think* that's what they mean - most of the cases I've seen seem to be that situation, but nobody ever actually explains it, do they?I might ask...

I had noticed the southern bias, and then just looked at the location of the most frequent posters. Yep, all southern
I always assumed there should be impartiality in there. Thought the 'come to me blizzard conditions' were meant for the regional threads. There's always some southerner saying something about a 'correction' in other words the model they're posting is suiting their location. Bloomin' bunch of IMBYs...

What do we think to possibilities on Thursday/Friday?

Oh I’m 99% sure we’ll see snow, what I’m less confident on is that we’ll get much, i.e anything more than a couple of cm’s.
Plenty of time for things to change yet though.
Even if we only get a few centimetres it'll be sticking around, there won't be a quick thaw.

vintage aren't they! like going back to 80's and 90's
Listening to Beacon, hoping the school was shut. Mind you, just because the school was open, didn't mean the coach would turn up or a note wouldn't come round mid-morning to ask all coach kids to meet in the hall at lunchtime ready to be collected early.

tropical 9 degrees here this morning, forgot my flip flops, could have worn 'em, even when it dried up at midday, not much cooler,
Sun to Tues next week though look okay, dry, cooler
It was pretty miserable though and even with the mild temperature It seemed chilly with that rain.

We have just over an inch lying now, we pretty much had nothing left of the Weekend snow.

I'd measured the depth on a table that wasn't affected by wind at school this morning, it was around 10cm and we've probably had a few more to top it off today. I would have measured it as I left but the kids had cleared it all off!
