A wild night for sure.
First use able rainfall we've had in months.
Its still raining, thought this would have cleared the region a few hours ago!
No complaints though, the rain is needed!

Are you actually on the shoreline?
A few miles inland of the sea at Saltdean and its warm and muggy.
I was in my garden
went for a walk in town and on the seafront and it is in fact warm, muggy and humid

Judging by the amazing skies, it's going to kick off big time tonight. Very gutted I must have a super early night ahead of a long drive, bl**dy typical! I mentioned about 10 days ago in here that this was bound to happen for my trip! Sods law
It's actually quite cool on the coast!

30c here but the breeze is making it more bearable.
The BBC site says it was only 26c!

No storm here, but plenty of rain....at long last !

Plenty of heavy convective drops....but its the type that when you hear it pattering away you think it's doing the garden a world of good, but when you look outside, the pavements are barely damp.

Oh yes.....some nice steady convective rainfall!!
Was in the midst of a hurricane less than an hour ago (minus the rain) now the windspeed has dropped to zero again!
Edit: Gusty wind has returned.

Temperature dropping rapidly - 24.4C now (down 7C in 30 minutes) - and humidity increasing rapidly!
Wind Speed also increasing rapidly!
I wonder if we'll get a lightning show later?!

sky to my west screams elevated storm.
Its still an outrageous 32c in my garden. was probably higher earlier, but the humidity is going through the roof now

Cold front has arrived, looks like it's starting to cloud over in Worthing

Always expect the unexpected.
As I said several pages ago, one of my all time favorite storms occurred in 2014, around this time of year, NOTHING whatsoever was forecast.

BBC was well off with the temperature forecast for my location on the sussex coast. It got to 27c after the cloud, which wasn't forecast, had cleared. BBC forecast 31c. A bog standard summers day! Maybe we will get to 30c tomorrow. Last time we got 30c was probably the 2019 record breaker day

32.3c now on the Sussex coast 1 mile from the sea.
Cloud cleared and unbroken sun again in the last hour.
It's impressive how only a mile can make such a difference in tempreature...it's 6c warmer than directly on the coast

Annoying considering those uppers no extreme heat here at all
I suppose there's always tomorrow!

No chance of any records going on the Sussex coast. it must be approx 25c There's a lot of cloud about which is hugely disappointing.
Its a normal summers day here!

After a steady climb in temperature, we hit 28.7C around 30 mins ago.
Temperature is on the way down at the moment - 27C...
It was / is forecast to reach about 31 today? Sun back out for now
-
We're going to get a monster storm that comes up from the channel in the next 2 days...I can just feel it.

Where's the sun gone?
-
Mid 20s at best on the sussex coast.
Where's the heatwave?

I know we in the south have already had a few storms this year, but I still think its a monumental fail on an epic scale from mother nature, that the north look set to be getting them after this heatwave.
If I'd had known, I'd have given the north the May storms!
Having said that....who knows what will happen here early next week..... my all time favorite thunderstorm occurred almost 8 years ago to the day....wasn't forecast at all. Got a pasting early in the morning!

Well it looks like the extreme heat will be going out with a pathetic wimper for us South Coasties.
The thought of storms is about the only thing that makes the extreme heat tolerable!

I'm going to have a wild punt at 38.8 somewhere in London on 18th July

For the first time during this heat spell, it actually feels quite sticky outside. It has been lovely the last few nights, cool with a decent breeze, but not tonight!!

Wild in Worthing. Loads of sheet lightning, mostly distant thunder, and heavy rain!
