    Sunset over Suffolk

Sunset in Ipswich, Suffolk behind clouds
  2. That is the weirdest question I have ever seen on this forum. lol lol. BUT, if I were to guess then you could try either the met-office or the weather channel. I don't think it will be easy to find that info but you could give these two a try,,good luck
  3. It will take around 5 and abit hours until it reaches downtown New Orleans. A storm surge which is similar to a tsunami will wash inland alot and could be 20-30ft high.
  4. The 1935 Hurricane is the most powerful hurricane in United States history which swept through the Upper Keys. On Labor Day night, the unnamed storm, with its 250-mph winds and a 17-foot tidal surge, killed more than 500 people.
  5. shes not dying shes resting for a while. Then she will cause devestation
  6. thats cool,, the wind pushing east then I could get something. Very hot here at the moment. We're apparently one of the hottest parts of the country on average
  7. When a hurricane wall opens you'd expect the inside to become stable and everything will be calm for a while,, literally the rain and wind will stop and you may see blue skies etc. When the wall closes it merly moves on and the unsettles conditions continue. Most of the time the rear of the eye is the worst as its had the longest time warming up and gaining strength.
  8. Thats the thing. People watching FOX will maybe be mislead because they see the images and nothing amazing is happening as of yet. But think of it like this, the hurricane will intense as the sun rises and gives it heat which should happen in the next hour or so. I think it will upgrade to a cat 5 once again. Also when the very edge of the eye hits that's where the most intense gusts will be. Because of the heat in the sea that's fueled the hurricane to bring 150-170 mile winds for around 12 hours{possible} The most flooding should occure withing the next 6-7 hours
  9. Just read this on BBC. Although the storm has been downgraded from category five to four, forecasters predict it could strengthen again as it hits land at about sunrise (1100 GMT). Sustained winds are reaching 155mph (250km/h). {They say a cat 4 but then they say 155mph which would make it a cat 5} EDIT: When a hurricane spins it kind of spins like a piece of string round a finger, it becomes tighter and more intense
  10. i think the winds sustained are at 150mph. gusts around 170mph. so its a cat 4. unlike the others i dont think its breaking up at all but just starting to spin more.
  11. Not being funny but I think the effects of this hurricane will be totally devistating. In my opinion, this hurricane will have the same effect as an atomic bomb
  12. Just some info on Mitch and Gilbert. Try comparing these with Katrina Hurricane Gilbert had the lowest sea level pressure (888 Mb) ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere. Gilbert was a category 5 hurricane when it made landfall over Cozumel, Mexico, then later weakened to a category 3 storm before making it's second landfall over northern Mexico. Gilbert's northeastern track into Texas and Oklahoma caused $40-50 million in damages from the more than 29 tornadoes reported. Coastal regions in Mexico received 5-10 inches of rain. A total 318 people died due to the effects of this storm. Hurricane Gilbert of 1988 was the strongest Category Five hurricane ever, destroying Jamaica with wind speeds upwards of 180 miles per hour. Hurricane Mitch Winds near the centre of the hurricane peaked at 180 mph. The pressure was 905mb
  13. This is the weird thing. I hope knowone dies but I would like to see what a cat5 can do. It's just a spectacle to see what nature can throw at us. Anyone else want it to stay a cat 5?
  14. Is that serious? I know it's 175mph the last time I was watching FOX. Where did you hear this??

This was today in Ipswich. The cloud looked fantastic. It seemed to roll out like a carpet. The blue skies interferred with the pic but it also shows the contrast.
  20. very intense storm just passed through Ipswich. The best night storm in a while.
