Snow starts at midnight. Met office have no warnings not sure why because NAE and most other models have us down for lying snow - NAE is usually pretty accurate as-well. I don't know if I will see lying snow it depends but surely they should have a warning.
This is what the models are showing. Once again Coleraine mountain prime culprit. WOOP WOOP Temps are dropping with 5.2c being reported in nearby Ballyvenox.

Ok so now the wind is really mad. Fed up waiting on the cold air though.
-
Can't really hear anything because I have my music on. Will have to go up and check. A wee bit colder at 5c, but the snow isn't to start till 11pm. Think I might stay up to 2am or so.
Edit: just checked, its just howling. Not really getting the winds that are being described in Donegal.
-
ok winds are really bad now.
-
The cold front has just past through Galway down to 5c. Perhaps we will see some snow by 9pm.
-
I wonder will we see lying snow at low levels? I hope so.
-
The met office has me down for 2c max and heavy snow all day tomorrow. Surprised there are no warnings, it's looking very snowy.
Don't think i'll see accumulations. 200m probs.

We will see snow. Every model has it down and it sonly 24 hours away now.
We had snow and sleet yesterday. This morning I was up at 8 and there was snow on some of the hills
-
oooo bb mentioned the snow. There we go then.
Hope its constant heavy, slow moving showers. mmm

Yea. But it does look to be proper wintry weather. Its really hard to work out if we will see lying snow. But not surprised

Still 2c at 10:30. Looking forward to the snow on thursday
-
If the air is gonna be colder on thursday we should easily see snoe. It just depends how heavy and frequent the showers are
-
Proper snow now
-
Why do they keep saying hills on model output when the met office themselves have me down for snow on thursday
-
Folks on scottish thread say we might see lying snow. (and I am talking about NI here not anywhere else).
They say that the uppers don't matter because of the lower pressure.
-
-
Yes I think it will snow on Thursday.
I don't understand why though because the uppers are barely -5c? Yet two weeks ago when the uppers were -8c we struggled to get sleet from an arctic sourced air mass? It's a bit odd.
-
Now that we have not had snow for ages it is kinda hard to imagine what snow is like.
Weird. 2010 seems a long long long time ago now. Sigh
Thursday is looking good for snow but as we all know by now, it will be a sleety wash out
Actually I think we should get a timemachine and fast forward to summer because this is just bullsuper duper. So boring, I admire the optimism of the model output posters but its getting long drawn now. 15c on thursday, I mean COME ON!! Nonsense!
I think this may well be one of the rare winters where we see no lying snow.

Monday looking chilly with Tuesday and Thursday. As time has went on so far the models have cooled.
-
Maybe snow on monday.
Dun to 4c. Bleugh it should be that in the day this time of the year.

Doubt it. The Malin Head record is 16.8C for December, and that's quite close to you.
Still 15c even here in December is absolutely rediculous. It's cloudy aswell, I did not realise we were capable of this heat up here.

Temperature has dropped to 4.5c and the dew point is 1c. So maybe my prediction of 11pm/12am is quite accurate. We will see.
The showers are more frequent and heavier too.
