  2. The snow warning has been updated to remove some parts of the south.
  3. Friday 9 Feb - Sunday 18 Feb Cold air already established across the N of the UK is likely to extend to all parts through next weekend. As it does so there is a risk of further sleet or snowfall for some parts, but this should be more limited in extent than earlier in the week. So, becoming generally cold, but bright throughout (some uncertainty as to how quickly this happens in the S/SE) with snow showers tending to focus on coasts, especially in the E, Elsewhere, a decent amount of dry weather, but with some hard overnight frosts and a risk of ice. Windy at times, especially in the E at first, with a notable wind-chill. Temperatures ranging from rather mild in the S/SE at first, to cold, perhaps very cold in the N. Tuesday 20 Feb to Tuesday 5 Mar Although there is still some uncertainty, conditions slightly more-likely to be drier and more settled overall with lighter winds, from a more N'ly direction than usual. This increases the likelihood of cold conditions developing more widely with an enhanced risk of fog and frost, alongside wintry showers almost anywhere, but perhaps most-especially near E or N facing coasts. There is still a risk (albeit lower than climatology) of Atlantic frontal systems (and less-cold conditions) bringing rain across parts of the country now and again, especially the W/SW but this would likely bring a longer period of snow somewhere. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk

  6. Monday 19 Feb - Monday 4 Mar Although there is still some uncertainty, conditions most likely to be drier and more settled overall for much of the UK with lighter winds mainly from the north or northwest but potential for some stronger winds at times later on. This would increase the likelihood of colder conditions developing more widely for a time with potential for fog and notable frosts alongside wintry showers across the north/northwest or more widely as any isolated fronts move through later in the period. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk
  7. Friday 9 Feb - Sunday 18 Feb Cold air already established across the northern UK is likely to extend to all parts through next weekend. As it does so there is a risk of some significant snowfall for parts of the UK, perhaps central areas most prone to this as the but this aspect is very uncertain at this stage. Across the north cold throughout with snow showers tending to focus on northeastern areas while for the far south the period may start of with some rain and near average temperatures, before the cold air reaches here by the start of next week. Windy at times, especially so in some eastern areas where a notably wind chill is expected. Temperatures ranging from rather mild in the south at first, to cold, perhaps very cold in the north. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk

BBC Monthly Outlook Summary A change to colder conditions is coming Saturday 3 February to – Sunday 11 February Turning chillier by the end of the coming week Monday 12 February to – Sunday 18 February Mostly likely near or colder than average Monday 19 February to – Sunday 3 March Colder than normal Further ahead We will see in the next update on Wednesday if the models and other indicators continue to depict the colder turn of events from mid-February into the second half of the month. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/outlook

  15. Wednesday 7 Feb - Friday 16 Feb Initially unsettled with cloud and rain across a still mild south whilst clearer and colder conditions across the north with some wintry showers in the far north. Rain likely pushing back north late in the week with potential for snow for a time across the northern edge of this alongside gusty winds. Through the weekend a change toward a north or north-westerly wind will bring cold conditions spreading across the UK with wintry showers across coasts but clearer inland as rain clears southeast. A further change of type expected by mid-week as high pressure becomes increasingly dominant allowing winds to drop. Temperatures potentially recovering to average with this, though any prolonged clear skies liable to bring localised frosts and fog risk. Saturday 17 Feb - Saturday 2 Mar Although there is still some uncertainty by the start of this period is it more probable that conditions will start to become drier and more settled overall for much of the UK with winds from the north. This would increase the likelihood of less mild, or colder conditions developing more widely and increase chance of snow, especially in the north and east. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk
  16. Spain's Catalonia region which includes Barcelona has today extended a water ban to the refilling of public pools and some restrictions on public showers after 40 consecutive months of below-average rainfall. The region faces the prospect of bringing in water by boat during the summer.
  17. Seems to be an issue with threads which have tags associated with them in that whilst the box is showing, the text isn't.
  18. Tuesday 6 Feb - Thursday 15 Feb Most likely unsettled at first for much of the UK. Turning colder across northern areas with showers, which will turn wintery at times especially over higher ground but to lower levels at times too. Cloud and rain being pushed in from the Atlantic may well be forced to track further south across the south of the country where it may remain milder but with more persistent rain, especially in the west. Exactly where the boundary between these two regimes lies is still rather uncertain at the moment. However, there is a chance of wintery conditions developing more widely across the northern edge of this boundary through the second half of next week for a time. Friday 16 Feb - Friday 1 Mar Although there is still some uncertainty by the start of this period is it more probable that conditions will start to become drier and more settled overall for much of the UK with winds from the north. This would increase the likelihood of less mild, or colder conditions developing more widely and increase chance of snow, especially in the north and east. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk
  19. The UK could start to give names to heatwaves under a trial this year, if successful the naming of heatwaves could then be adopted permanently like it is for storms.
  20. Monday 5 Feb - Wednesday 14 Feb Changeable conditions at first, with spells of mild, wet and windy weather punctuated by drier, cooler interludes. The northwest is likely to see the heaviest and most frequent or most persistent rain, while the east, and especially southeast, will tend to be drier overall. Largely cloudy with the best of any sunshine in the east. There is a chance colder conditions could then start to feature slightly more widely during the second week of February, with increased chance of wintry weather across northern parts of the UK. Cloud and rain being pushed in from the Atlantic may well be forced to track further south across the south of the country where it may remain milder. However, confidence is fairly low in this period. Thursday 15 Feb - Thursday 29 Feb Following on from earlier in the month, either the period will start changeable with temperatures overall around average and a northwest to southeast split in conditions, where colder conditions may have become established across the north and milder conditions with cloud and rain further south. However, through mid-February there is an increasing likelihood of more settled conditions with winds arriving from the north. This would increase the chance of some colder spells for much of the UK, with a greater likelihood of wintry conditions at times, particularly in the north and east. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk

  22. BBC Monthly Outlook Summary Mild and unsettled, then colder mid-February Wednesday 31 January to – Sunday 4 February Changeable but generally mild Monday 5 February to – Sunday 11 February Milder than average for most but staying unsettled Monday 12 February to – Monday 25 March Possibly turning colder than average mid-February Further ahead With models tending to hint more at the possibility of colder weather for mid-to-late February, let's see the atmospheric drivers are still looking favourable for such conditions to develop. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/outlook
