  1. Alex Deacon mentioned "big vicious thunderstorms" in the NE on BBC Breakfast this morning If they're anything like that line of intense storms in Norfolk yesterday afternoon they'll be incredible.......
  2. The true East has had naff all this year, aim your bazooka at the NE, they've been hogging everything Not only that, Edinburgh seems to have grown a storm magnet recently For the record I'm on 3 storms for the year
  3. Hope it lives up to expectations All I can say is Norfolk isn't the place for storms it used to be
  4. Gosh, that was such an intense line of thunderstorms it was beyond the realms of human hearing As usual just degenerated into a mass of drizzly rain but luckily stayed dry here
  5. Are you sure that wasn't Matt Baker? Perhaps he meant a line of intense grey cloud with zero activity....
  6. Ooh yes, can see it on the radar, looks a bit tasty! Sadly will slip past to my NW by about 20 miles Oh well, still August to look forward to with faint hope
  7. Lovely day here, must be the driest day we've had in ages The radar is fibbing, supposed to be light to moderate rain at the moment
  8. Very hectic skies to the north earlier, now obscured by that mass of drizzly rain heading towards Norwich. Can't be bothered to hop across country this time!
  9. surrounded by heavy showers, believe I heard a faint rumble earlier *faints*
  10. Oh my! Just had our 3rd TS of the YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! Let the celebrations begin - one glass of wine for every rumble of thunder.....that's 3 glasses then..... Yesterday's rain was more impressive
  11. Yep, just cleared through here, monstrous amount of rain in a very short space of time!
  12. Just grey skies and drizzle here for the last 2 hours. Soooo dramatic
  13. I think it's just scud - we were parked up in a layby on the A47 and I walked back to find a decent gap in the trees but didn't hang about due to cars whistling past at 80 mph, so didn't really spend time having a good look
  14. Every time I've been to Edinburgh it's been gloriously sunny - perhaps I ought to move there Posted some pics of yesterday evening's storm in the Photography forum - feeling quite chuffed that I managed to do that
  15. Well, here's my first attempt at posting some pics, no doubt it'll go horribly wrong after a bit of umming and ahhing we (that is, self and designated driver) decided to pootle out this evening after a rather nice storm which came into view around 7.30pm. Best route was up the A47 towards Norwich then across country towards Aylsham, with a few minor alterations as the plan was not to get swallowed up by the exceedingly heavy rain and stay on it's SE side. Closer inspection showed two distinct cells - the first of which was probably almost at Cromer before we left, such was the size (see radar for details ) After almost 2hrs we turned for home, mainly because I was very hungry, having abandoned the whole dinner thing....and partly because further driving would leave us somewhere in the North Sea Despite a complete lack of activity it was very photogenic and rewarded us with some excellent pics, although no anvil was visible as a final late evening shower developed south of us and effectively obliterated any further views. First couple were taken at home.... Wide angle pano The rest are from the A47 south of Norwich and on towards Aylsham and Cromer Love this tormented sky look Pah! who needs Kansas?? And a nice sunset to end with
  16. I'm not quite in the amber box I demand the NE give back the storms which should be in the East
  17. well ain't that a surprise (not!) Managed to chase it all the way to the coast but didn't see diddly squat apart from some glorious rain shafts. Got some corking pics though
  18. Fantastic looking cell to my NW towards the coast, but whaddya know, completely silent. Saw one very distant CG and that was it. Still, it has beautiful structure and is very photogenic
  19. Another rogue shower out of nowhere, washing no longer dry. Start again....
  20. Aforementioned shower missed completely so washing back out again. The east of East Anglia is slowly becoming one of the worst places for storms these days...bring back the 1980s!
  21. Dammit - large shower heading towards Norwich *hurtles outside to retrieve washing*
  22. er...never? We'll have to wait until August now...or maybe October...or possibly next June....
