  1. Are we here on the south hampshire coast the only ones to have just had a really exciting storm then? We were on the beach watching the lightning over the isle of Wight at around 9 pm...came home when it died down..then lying in bed at around 11 pm heard some thunder followed by all the lights going out and a massive thunder bomb right overhead...seriously scary! Rains stopped now but im still shaking....

  2. True although the restaurant owner would have been aware of the risks of his location . He does have a duty of care for his customers... It is bang smack on the seafront..... https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari&ie=UTF-8&q=marine+restaurant+milford+location&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=marine+restaurant+milford+location&cid=400925681192841705&ei=TDr_UoKjLaPe7Abs_oDoDA&ved=0CCcQ_BI

The restaurant is mostly behind a seawall and a huge shingle bank..the beginning of Hurst spit.I reckon he thought the sea wouldn't breach the bank...however it breached it further down during the last storm and they've spent a week with diggers and suchlike repairing the  bank!

  3. Well its  been raining hard for hours down here in the New Forest...everywhere is flooded, and we arrived home to find the large storm ditch beside our house along the road had overtopped its banks and was filling up our garden rapidly! We spent over an hour trying to get the water to flow away from the house and managed to eventually get it flowing down the road and into the storm ditch further along...sadly that ditch is also overflowing and we now have two substantial rivers flowing  across our Lane...with a lake forming too.In 8 years of living here it's never been this bad...and the radar shows more and heavier to come...its just started  to get harder again...Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

  4. Well I'm completely bemused by the weather...we go to the darts every January at the Lakeside in Frimley Green, and because we like to get there early to get good seats I've often frozen my t**s off standing outside at the front of the queue for hours without a coat so I can whizz in quick and grab the seats...this year for the first time in 4 years I didn't have to wear thermals and it was quite pleasant apart from a bit of drizzle! Now the models have backed right away from the possibility of cold at all I've given up, put me sledge away and am just grateful we won't get through all our wood for the burner and have to go foraging...mind you could do without the lakes all over the roads down here....
