  1. Great article...I try and storm chase a little here in the UK but would love to go out the the US...need to win the lottery first though. Paul, love the t shirt...however there's a bit of a grammar fail! (/pedant mode)!

We often see our best storms while down on the seafront..watching the lightning strikes getting closer over the sea from France and the squalls over the Isle of Wight from Milford or Barton cliffs can't be beaten :-)

  2. Looking rather dicey on the south coast for Monday but I wonder if people further inland will feel this has been overhyped? I haven't seen a chart showing gusts over 60 mph once you get 30 miles inland - such gusts were very common in the 80s and 90s - nothing truly exceptional - and could it all miss us to the south anyway?

No.It won't miss us. Even if it moves  further south...and atm that is not happening...we will then get the larger amount of rain which currrently is progged to hit further north.

I'm fairly  worried...I  live in a park home (mobile home) three miles  from   the south  coast....Posted Image

  3. It's the length of day that determines when trees start to lose their leaves, not the warmth. The temperature, amount of sunlight, and moisture determine the intensity of display.

Actually not entirely true...some species rely on the length of the day while others on the temperature. .which is why there are variations in Autumn as to when the trees start to lose their leaves...otherwise all the leaves would drop at the same time each autumn!
