I'm actually pretty scared now...hoping the trees all around us won't come down.......we won't survive if that happens as we are just wooden...the noise is awful...
-
Ive never heard wind like this...I was too far north for the hurricane of '88...I live in a park home and its proper scary!!!

Very very windy here three miles from the coast in the Forest...and we have to go out to work across the Forest in a minute! Not looking forward to the journey at all, but we can't let the old folk down (we are musical therapists/entertainers)

Blowing a hoolie and raining hard here in the forest...and the lights keep flickering so I'm expecting a power cut any minute. ..
-
Gusting harder now with constant moderate to heavy rain...the amber warning doesn't kick in for another 35 minutes. ..can hear the huge pine trees to the west of me blowing around...its a bit scary here in our little park home....:-(
-
Its actually quite blowy here on the south coast...
-
Windy and pouring here in the Forest...gusts seem to be increasing.....can hear it very well as we live in a metal roofed park home....
-
Looking rather dicey on the south coast for Monday but I wonder if people further inland will feel this has been overhyped? I haven't seen a chart showing gusts over 60 mph once you get 30 miles inland - such gusts were very common in the 80s and 90s - nothing truly exceptional - and could it all miss us to the south anyway?
No.It won't miss us. Even if it moves further south...and atm that is not happening...we will then get the larger amount of rain which currrently is progged to hit further north.
I'm fairly worried...I live in a park home (mobile home) three miles from the south coast....

Actually not entirely true...some species rely on the length of the day while others on the temperature. .which is why there are variations in Autumn as to when the trees start to lose their leaves...otherwise all the leaves would drop at the same time each autumn! It's the length of day that determines when trees start to lose their leaves, not the warmth. The temperature, amount of sunlight, and moisture determine the intensity of display.

Weve had an amazing storm here on the Hampshire coast...frequent lightning, loads of hail, booming thunder...and when we got back to our house 3 miles away from the coast it was still flashing away with loads of crawler lightning..took a video with flashes every few seconds! Best storm down here for a long time!

Therewas a massive crack of thunder here in the new forest a few minutes ago...our lights went out...but the rumbling seems to be tracking close but west of us atm...I guess i should head off down to the sea....
-
oh and there was plenty of lighting over the island...
-
Just been down on the coast at milford on sea...storm came in over the island and headed up country east ofus, but we did get a huge blinding flash and thunder within 2 secs...got a new car with a panoramic glass roof, it was awesome!! I wasnt paying attention to the radar as I sisnt thing there would be anything..so may have missd some of it...soooo pleased to have at least a glancing blow of a storm here!!
-
Couple of flashes seen here in the forest...

Certainly some hefty radar returns representive of some heavy rainfall heading for the Bourenmouth/Southampton area. With diurnal heating fading and CAPE relaxing now I think the threat of any thundery activity is slowly waning now though.
Yep...pouring with rain in the Forest atm...sadly this shower lost its electrification ovr the channel...been watching it for hours...
-
4 miles from lymington...saw nothing...just started raining here...
-
If somewhere in this threads geographical area is to get some T&L today/tonight, then I think it will be the Southampton - Portsmouth corridor, including the Isle of Wight. Big IF though.
So...just east of me then....dammit!!
-
Quiet and still here....overcast but nothing out of the ordinary
-
-
Bet we miss out...here on the southern coast of Hampshire weve heard thunder this summer and seen lighting but no storm has actually come closer than 8 miles...:-( Would be nice to have something other than just flippin rain...
-
Just raining here....:'(

Its gone chilly down here...had to come in! Hope we still get something....

Great article...I try and storm chase a little here in the UK but would love to go out the the US...need to win the lottery first though. Paul, love the t shirt...however there's a bit of a grammar fail! (/pedant mode)!
We often see our best storms while down on the seafront..watching the lightning strikes getting closer over the sea from France and the squalls over the Isle of Wight from Milford or Barton cliffs can't be beaten :-)
