OK then to keep it on topic this ? ps where is everyone ?
lol I love that picture! It'll probably be the closest I get to snow this weekend - the Hampshire shield is up methinks
-
After coming back from the pub quiz completely sober* I can tell you it's bloody freezing out there.
*Facts in this post may be slightly wrong
For a minute there I thought you'd left your beer overcoat at the bar Nick!
Last weather check for me as it's past my bedtime temp -3.1c (windchill -5.2c), humidity 66%, dewpoint -8.5
-
Yeh, that particular feature is in beta at the moment, as is the hot summer and thunderstorm switch.
Oh if only that were possible...
-
Update from me: temp -2.5c (windchill -6.6c), dewpoint -8.7, pressure 1080.3
-
-1.7c, dew -9.0
-
thanks for that purplepixii haha as i live in the same place i know the temp and dewpoint now :-)
Lol no worries, although Fareham is a fairly large place - I'm nearer the M27 than Gosport
-
Temp dropping here, almost too cold to go outside for a smoke! :o
Now -1.4 (-5.1 with windchill), humidity 56%, dewpoint -8.9
-
ahhh ok, cool - I'll put up with it for now then, cheers Paul

Is the V6 radar feed having a bit of a fit coz the "snow" lines/shapes showing are rather peculiar lol
Hope it sorts itself out soon if so as there's gonna be a lot of radar watching going on
-
although I hope I don't get chased by a goose again like yesterday...

Whilst I remember in this cold spell can I ask all to remember the older folk in this weather and maybe keep an eye on them i.e you have neighours. They are most vulnerable. Age Concern has advise for them too things like. Heat at least one room i.e the bedroom, and eat one hot meal at least one a day. Try not to rely on gas fires for too long. Also there are grants from governments to help on bills. Wrap up. Reduce going outside. etc etc
Good point PB and probably worth posting elsewhere on other bits of the forums maybe? I have elderly neighbours near me and when we had the snow last year hubby & I gritted their paths and I did some shopping for them because I dared to go out. This year I have a 4x4 plus lots of grit so will be keeping an eye on them and offering help too

Thanks Nick
I just braved the model discussion forum and was getting rather confused at the seemingly sudden elation & talk of significant snow - honestly I can't keep up with those models, they make my head hurt! Looks like the weekend could be interesting though!
-
Some "journalists" really should be shot for sensationalist headlines!
Britain to shiver in temperatures 'colder than the South Pole' as health chiefs say more than 1,500 people a week could die from killer freeze
- Department of Health issues 'level 3' cold-weather alert as freeze poses significant health risks
- Army on standby for level 4 'major cold weather incident
-
I just saw Mr Fish too - had to do a double take but was good to see him on the screen!
Oh & LOL @ Nick L!
-
Just notIced though where is NickL 's evening forecast? Have I missed it?
I noticed that too PB - darn students, bet he's down the pub!
Oh & GTLTW I agree, what I meant was I have no expectations and am happy to let the weather "do it's thing" (i.e. I'm not going to stress out either way)
-
-
Yay thanks Nick! You've become our sensible voice of reason who explains complicated model-guessing in plain English - hurrah!
-
Well if that was our snowfall it was pretty pathetic - it's stopped and really was a case of blink & you miss it - you're welcome to it Coast lol
-
Light snow currently falling in Fareham, Hampshire but not settling
-
Light snowfall in Fareham although starting to fall a bit heavier now - the little flakes look so pretty gently falling down and swirling around a bit
-
Mother of God...
PERMISSION TO RAMP?!
Is that seriously predicting a temp of -24 down here on the (usually) sunny South Coast????
P.S. Glad to have both Nick L & GTLTW in this thread - maybe you guys can translate updates from the mystery that is the model discussion forum into plain English for me/us in here
iowpompeylee - let me know which ferry to catch!
