  1. Vast improvement yesterday with warm sunshine, and a balmy evening - the best Saturday we’ve had in ages. We finally had the garden based BBQ we’ve been putting off since early June. Hooray!
  2. Yesterday a big disappointment as the decaying front brought a few hours of continual drizzle until about 5, then after a short warm break resumed heavy clouds from about 6.30. This despite my apps all saying it was dry and sunny!! Today hopefully dry but the signs aren’t great.
  3. Sunday afternoon brought a sunny - if windy and cool -respite allowing some weekend outdoor activities but weather has reverted to pattern of a bit of early morning sunshine which turns into overcast grey clouds with periodic showers since then . Even today, with local forecasts and weather apps saying dry, it’s actually heavy showers!
  4. Yesterday we actually had a thunderstorm zip through which was fun, and again the cloudscapes can be wonderful. But it’s Saturday and it’s raining AGAIN! Agh. I’ve managed one beach day this year. Feeble.
  5. Improvement through the day to an acceptable level with greater area of grot further south. More grot to come later this week but hopes now raised for mid-month on. Some quite lovely cloudscapes really help a day.
  6. Personally I’ve always enjoyed thunderstorms. But in the UK we haven’t really seen the extreme versions. I enjoyed a particularly good one in the Pyrenees five years ago which rumbled around for a few hours.
  7. I was very glad to have the period of heat, as it was the weather I always hope for when I take a summer holiday to the Med. But for me a holiday abroad is a distant hope now thanks to a mixture of matters including the virus and Brexit but not exclusively so. So some of my nigglyness is due to having to having no break away. Current weather doesn’t help at all as it drives home how much I feel I’m missing. I really feel for the campers in Cornwall.
  8. Right - I’m getting grumpy again. I don’t want to wear one layer, let alone two, at this time of year.
  9. Not bad at all despite temporary cloud cover. Looking forward to the weekend, and sun is great for my back which is recovering nicely, but enjoyment dampened by mid/European weather which looks serious. General concern about global warming.
  10. Curious weather in Somerset where the clouds are coming in from the north. I’m in central Somerset where the cloud has thinned and periodically allowed the sun through, but most of the time it’s been mild and dry - but grey. Only about 15 miles west near Bridgwater my friends are reporting wall to wall sun.
  11. Pelting down here now. I’ve also done my back in so I’m extra grumpy.
  12. Inland Somerset again not too bad despite early rain. Some sun poking through now and warmer than forecast by a degree or two. Should be nice by 5.
  13. Not been too bad here today- no rain at all, comfortably mild and some sun. Still some heavy clouds about and the weekend looks wet and rather dull - but I will grit my teeth and think of the following week where signs are now much more promising- fingers crossed!
  14. Yet another wet, grey and cool weekend due by the looks of things. Really depressing (particularly as I took a day off because the forecast was good a week ago) - very much ‘a month of wet Sundays’. Today first acceptable day for a week - it’s always decent Thursdays it seems. Roll on some heat SOON!
  15. Not quite so bad today. Air is warmer and sun is actually coming out between showers so my SAD is reduced.
  16. After particularly heavy shower passed earlier temperature really dropped and i needed to put heater on temporarily. No sun at all today apart from five minutes at 6.30 a.m. Noted forecasts for next week have suddenly become less sunny and no heat coming my way it seems. Really depressing especially as no holiday this year.
  17. Well at least I got my Thunderstorm fix this weekend. It seems we currently have an extended period of warm early mornings and then vast amounts of cloud. I’m getting grumpy again as it feels the chance of proper summer is getting less and less as the weeks move on.
  18. Annoyingly it appears another front will come over Somerset on Friday - I’m relieved we’re not getting the extremes of the western US/Canada area but I would like another sunny weekend please
  19. I think it’s easy to become fed up with a British summer when we’ve become used to travelling abroad and experienced continental weather, which we only get when plumes come over. Although it’s grey today it was great last week, and there’s more to come. Somerset rain means my garden is being watered nicely and I will enjoy more sun soon.
  20. Lucky to have a 1920s council house here which retains warmth nicely. caught on the edge of the weather system here so grey and cloudy and some VERY minimal precipitation every now and again. No sun for last three days, but no thunder either. Realised I’m missing Med weather as I’m normally in Languedoc this time of the year.
  21. Looking at the forecast until the end of August looks as if that’s it for summer. Too soon to tell for mid-September but I’m having to get used to the idea of a blustery cool bank holiday where jumpers are needed to stay warm
