Hi coast,Nah nothing to do with me I only trigger heat waves wen i leave the country!I've gone all out and dug the electric fan out of the garage. I'm surprised it still works!'Ello SS,So it's you we have to blame/thank for this possible hot spell then eh?

Hi everyone
I popped in last month wen everyone was depressed and said don't worry, keep the faith and rubbish weather patterns don't necessarily cement themselves in situ - and hey presto we are on the cusp of a heatwave.
Now some peeps are depressed because its gonna be too hot lol! Ah can't win.
Tho I'm also someone who dislikes humidity and temps above 25 - but I'll take it so my cucumbers can do some catching up! For me the only good thing to come from high temps is that we get those balmy evenings
Enjoy the heat wave everyone and remember the sun cream!

hi all
i know the weather isnt great but it could be a lot worse (like last year). Average temps for june in london are only 21degrees.
And while a pattern might stick around for weeks on end, there is no evidence to suggest it will. Three years of rubbish summers doesnt mean another is on the horizon.
And for next week its possible that we will draw up some warmer/humid weather with possible tstorms.
Keep the faith and those fingers crossed
EDIT: and incidentally, the nicer weather we had at beginning of june was down to me being abroad (happens literally everytime i leave the uk) so if u all chip in and buy me a plane ticket, i'll happily go back to turkey and leave u to enjoy some wonderful sunshine here
-
i decided to put my washing out on the line this morning - always a good way to ensure a nice beefy shower! getting very dark here in nw london
-
A very heavy convective shower here. Unfortunately no thunder

hi all
The deluge has started i'm feeling the need to go into hibernation! i dont even like hot weather but this is just plain nasty! everytime i think about planting my veg outside, i check the weather and decide to leave it another week - at this rate they will spend the whole "summer" indoors!
Fingers crossed for something better soon!
keep dry everyone

EDIT: that's sorted now

What browser are you using there SS, calendar link is on the same line for the ones I'm testing in?
hi Paul i'm using IE 9
-
i like it cleaner and easier to read.
i think the top of the page needs some tweaks....it looks a little unfinished or unpolished. the calendar link needs to sit next to the chat link, instead of on its own line. some well placed lines would be good too - like this
instead of
but generally a +1 from me
-
It's been removed again for now as we're looking at the best way to do it.
Hi Paul,
I never really liked the page numbers because they never told u which page number you were currently viewing. A "last page" button next to the "next" button and "first page" button next to the "previous" button, would work better, i think.
but if you do bring back the page numbers, any chance the current page you are viewing could be hightlighted in some way?

congratulations gp!
your post was reminiscent of ed berry's final blog post and indeed I was gutted wen he stopped and likewise I will miss your posts tremendously.
but onward and upward!
all the best in your new job

is that some convection i spy south of london?
and more importantly is it fake or real?

That's a short range model (eg similar to our 6km version), it's also not the same model - their nmm is run on their servers in house (I assume). We run our own version of the model with (probably) different physics etc within it as there are countless different ways to run it.
ah ok thanks paul, i had often wondered why the nmm output on meteociel is often very different to the output on netweather
-
The NMM-18 is quite a lot higher resolution than most other medium range models - particularly the publicly available ones - it's at 18km, the likes of the GFS, ECM, UKMO etc are all run at around 25-50km, although the output made available is sometimes at a lower resolution depending on the source.
hi Paul
If i recall correctly, the nmm on meteociel is run at 5km, albeit, it only shows roughly half of the UK
-
cmon people lets bust this cap!!
-
I see the gfs wants to tease me by showing snow imby on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to varying degrees.
I'll stick to the fax charts and ukmo I think....
