thanks that's good for me know I have learnt something .NOTAM = Notice To Airmen
If there's such things like icing on the runway/taxiway, snow drifting, snow clearance, etc, it'll all be on the NOTAM.

Jodrell Bank does seem to catch the snow now and again, keep an eye out on the Manchester Airport METAR reports as this would give the better indication of when the heaviest snow is likely to fall. Probobaly NOTAMS later on in the day if the drifts accumulate across the airfield.

Birmingham looks to be a prime area for some of the heaviest snow. He might struggle getting back once that snow sets in.

Should be okay sticking to the main motorway routes through Cheshire, it won't be a 'walk in the park' by any means but 210m asl here near Disley we have lying snow and more to come through the night before the main event.
So its a matter of wait and see till the morning ? he said he is going to set off he is based near jodrel bank and go from there ?

Can I ask a question please? My husband has to travel to Birmingham (Lichfield) What are his chances of getting there in the morning? asking because there is no snow at all in Stockport? and he thinks I am going a bit

Cold with an increasing risk of snow.
This Evening and Tonight:
Although it will be dry for much of the time, outbreaks of snow will affect some areas this evening and overnight. Any accumulations should be relatively minor. It will be a cold night with brisk southeasterly winds. Minimum Temperature -5 °C.
Friday:
Outbreaks of snow will become more widespread and persistent during the day, with disruptive snow possible for Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester. Staying windy and feeling very cold. Maximum Temperature 0 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Further rain, sleet and snow expected, although with some drier, brighter periods, especially on Sunday. Remaining cold with ice and frost affecting many areas, and with freezing fog possible.

More doubts how far north the snow will get. In short we could stay dry. I don't think anyone can say until tomorrow.
