  1. What I find amazing is that there is now 2 inches outside yet there is no warning. Whereas a large part of the warning area haven't had any accumulations!
  2. Yes it can. Windchill can also increase your chance of seeing the white stuff.
  3. Blizzards not possible. More snow than forecast is possible.
  4. Well its dropped to 2.6C and keeps dropping. Just think, the lower it drops, the lower the max will be when the front comes through, meaning it will be colder when the cold air does come through! Agreed, it is definitely feeling cold, and the sky is looking very orangey against the street lights, i cant explain the view!
  5. In fact it has been known to snow at 8C. As long as the upper temperature, the wet bulbs and the dew point are right, temperature isn't a major factor!
  6. Yep, 2.9C now. Metcheck have 2C for between 6-9pm which is just right! This is exciting stuff :w00t:
  7. I've been interested in the weather ever since I can remember. I'm 18 now and the snow just gets me excited all the time, even if it doesn't settle, it's magical to see, particularly around the the xmas period!
  8. As GLTW has brought up is probably what may happen. Colder air is looking as though it is undercutting much faster than any forecaster thought. Take this as an example. My location was meant to be 5-6C at 6pm, in actual fact, my super-sensitive thermometer in the garden is recording 3.0 on the dot. Apparently many others are experiencing similar drops that weren't meant to be. I feel as though places further south could get a surprise and those already in the warning zone could get more snow.
  9. Indeed. I'm now at 3.0. Faster than my lowest guess at the temperature being at this time of day, incredible!
  10. BBC said our temperature for 6pm would be 5C, it's now currently 3.3, so nearly 2 degrees off the mark, still hoping! Now 3.1!!
  11. I always think that, but usually its later! Looks like a jellyfish
  12. This is what happens when silly people scare others. No need to worry at all!
  13. We have gone from 6.2C to 4.9C in the space of 20 minutes, wow!
  14. Many local forecasters for Nottingham have said that it would be just rain, not snow, particularly on the radio
  15. Areas for snow at most risk are western-central-southern England & Wales but the risk extends all across the southern half of the UK albeit the very far south!
  16. The system appears to be moving southward which will decrease the chance of dangerous wind speeds. The centre I believe will travel through the channel increasing the risk for snow for southern UK because the cold can undercut the warmer air easier, which is what the Metoffice have put their warnings out for, hope this helps!
  17. I've seen this set up many times before. Does anyone remember the 'snowstorm' that was forecast 2 years ago when an atlantic system pushed into the cold air lingering over the UK? Well the east was supposed to get plastered but soon backtracked to just the west midlands. Things has a tendency to change, just hope the east can get something out of this one, please!
  18. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=nae&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=prty&HH=48&ZOOM=0&ARCHIV=0&WMO=&PERIOD= That my friend...is very nice indeed!
  19. What I find ridiculous are the people who criticise others for liking extreme weather. We all have our own preferences, some of us like clear blue skys, no wind and warm days, others like myself like stormy, snowy, outrageous weather out of ordinary because I'm a weather enthusiast. My definition of a weather enthusiast is one who enjoys all types of weather, so therefore...I like all types of weather, and those who find is necessary to critisise us for liking that can quite frankly bugger off.
