Surfaces will remain wet from earlier showers and from continued showers of rain, sleet and snow, allowing ice to form. The public should be aware of the risk of icy stretches on roads on pavements.

What ever the weather tonight - I must state that KCC have done a superb job in this cold spell, the roads have been gritted and they have really kept everyone up to date. both @KentHighways and @GrittingKent will interact with twitter followers, answer questions and post very useful information even the odd joke or two. So far this year, I have tweeted @Grittingkent about getting our road gritted, they replied they would look into it (as its a new estate but on a bus route) they came back 24 hours later confirming it was to be added to the list of roads. Gritted later in the day. Also reported a broken traffic light to @KentHighways via twitter whilst sitting in the small traffic jam it had created - came back an hour later. Traffic lights working. If you are on Twitter both accounts are really worth a follow. @KentHighways also report on traffic and both accounts are tweeting 24hrs a day. Edited to add - Medway do their own gritting.

  9. 0.9 here in Ashford and it stinks outside! some reports that its a gas cloud coming from France (Simon Jones â€@BBCSimonJones South Kent residents urged to keep doors and windows shut due to a gas cloud heading over from France after a leak from a factory) Others its from the diesel tanker crash yesterday (KMFM)
