  1. Thanks Steve, I hope everyone appreciates the amount of time that goes into your's and others forecasting.
  2. Just seen this video passed on by twitter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJcuB3DtsV8 The A-holes are stealing the Grit from the yellow bins around Dartford, possibly to resell?

  4. ITV News Meridian â€@itvnewsmeridian Weather flash - More snow due in Kent towards PM rush hour. More likely to fall as rain elsewhere @simonparkinitv
  5. Ok, so i've just purchased the netweather radar - I'm using the V6 version (is this the best) and where can i find a link to describe the different colours on the radar? I take it pink is snow, but whats green?
  6. from @grittingkent Tomasz Schafernaker â€@Schafernaker Kent likely to get a fair bit tonight. RT @GrittingKent View from our weather station A2 Faversham http://fb.me/yhjKxcH9
  7. They all come from the same data points! it would hardly be worthwhile for any body to install their own radar around the country - raintoday, MetO and Netweather, TWO - all use the same data.
  8. That's because, as you've experienced first hand today, the weather changes. 10000's of Intel chips are trying to pattern match and predict a snow event when we have warm(er) air present. As Steve Murr said a shift 75 miles east or west makes a huge difference here. Stay with me here, but IF and and it's a BIG IF, the BBC updated their forecasts as per every run would the 99% be confused - The BBC try and take the line for the majority, you and me are in the minority when it comes to guessing where it will snow. Pleasing the majority will always win - simples.
  9. Gritting Kent â€@GrittingKent Gritting: 13 Jan - Secondary routes to be completed ASAP. primary routes completed by 1500hrs. We will update through the day#KCCwinter Gritting Kent â€@GrittingKent Minimum overnight road surface temperature -4ºC. Hazards- ice, hoar frost & snow #KCCwinter
  10. Gritting Kent â€@GrittingKent There is still alot of uncertainty about any snowfall for Monday. Please check the forecast before leaving for your commute in the morning 09:00 13/1/2012
  11. OK, Just back from ASDA's i have shopped for my essential supplies for the next week! 12 bottles of Rioja Resverva for £7.50 per bottle and a case of cider £15. Tap tap. I will be watching several Lamp posts come Monday!
  12. sarah7meme Thundersnow We had our first and best Thundersnow back in Italy (Turin) when the most magnificent thunderstorm event turned into snow, even the locals were leaving the bars to watch lighting cracking off across the sky and the most intense snow storm. It lasted a couple of hours.
  13. Matthew Hugo â€@MattHugo81 00Z EC ENS is similar to the EC Det with a 'slider low' middle of next week and it maintains the cold, but it sure is knife-edge situation. Tweeted at 0845
  14. John, Dexter - Are the faxes updated in the day, or is just late tonight? Thanks Paul.
  15. Morning all, If you don't have a lamp post to watch - try one of these, mine arrived yesterday (i use it for night fishing) I was shocked at the power of this head lamp! easy illuminates every thing within a 100m's! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-XML-XM-L-T6-LED-Bike-Bicycle-HeadLamp-HeadLight-Cycle-Front-Rear-Light-Set-/140740068098?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Cycling_Bike_Lights&hash=item20c4c30302 Also if your on twitter a must follow is @GrittingKent an informative and humourous feed from KCC's gritting centre.
  16. Ben, in all fairness to give you a definitive answer you will have to wait until Saturday morning and make a judgement call yourself, however the more knowledgeable people in this thread can give you a rough idea. Where about are you travelling to and from?
  17. Ben, Ask this question in the SE regional thread, your more likely to get a reply and further updates.
