I'm sorry, I don't post on here often but I have to reply to this. Mushy, I've lost count of how many negative comments, snipes and digs I've read from you during the latter part of the Winter and early Spring directed at those who enjoyed the colder and wetter types of weather and none of them sounded like you were pleased for those people who were enjoying it. So could you please stop this pot kettle black nonsense.youve had 6 summers like that, is it too much to ask you to be pleased for us now its our turn to get our rare weather type?
cooling off, drinking, lounging about in the sun or shade, wearing very little, the comfort of warm air on your body, the sounds of swifts and martens whizzing through the sky, flowers, the scent of blossoms, sitting outside to eat/socialise, etc etc etc.... besides half of what you list as 'bad' things about hot summers also apply to cooler wet ones!

I'd just like to add also, I wasn't "judging" the forum in anyway whatsoeverRead the first post and closed the tab the second I read "Madden has an impressive record"
The quote "Judging a book by its cover" springs to mind.

It is a great site. not as technical as you say, but its not just about that.

Even more surprising considering we started the year with a hosepipe ban!
-
Where are we most likely to see the most significant snowfall first?
-
Ahh... the gulf stream will never shut down folks, Mr Corbyn et al talk a load of...
Anyway, here is todays snow show
Are you sure that's todays IF?

Woo Hoo. Must be getting closer to that time my favourite thread of the year opens!!!!
Sorry guys, Winter Lurker Alert.

Oh the joys of living in the south east. How long must we wait for some decent snow????

Trying to snow again in Dagenham, keep getting a few large flakes and then rain/sleet again.
-
That's the most succinct version... Next week, after monday will be mild, prob double figures in these parts, maybe a bit cooler from boxing day...
So what your basically saying is that today is most likely to be the snowiest day of December in the south east?
-
Milder, no snow.
Erm, woo hoo

Ok, I don't understand all the jibber jabber over in the model thread, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the outlook for the rest of the year in our neck of the woods as it stands?

Its sleeeeeeeting! :smilz38:

Depends on the conditions! Was that the December snow that started as rain around lunchtime and then turned to snow? It was very cold ahead of the PPN, and then warmed briefly allowing rain before colder air quickly dug back in. Unfortunately, it's been milder ahead of this PPN, and the colder air has taken longer to dig in on the back edge. Never rule it out, but the intensity is not the same as that December storm.
Yes December 2009. I know there is a huge difference between then and now. But there's always the very slightest hope.

It does when it is marginal though.
It is not cold enough for the snow to stick, other than high up circa 200m and upwards.
If only I spoke weather, then I'd know what all that meant!

Woke up to fast fat futile flakes, eased off to small and sleety, but just picked up again. Nice to watch but without the prospect of settling even a bit, and with the rain puddles on the ground it's also rather sad
I will say this, in 2009 I was at work, outside having a ciggy when it started snowing. One of my colleagues commented on how it wouldn't settle as the ground was too wet. 2 hours later while we was in a meeting one of my managers came in and told us to go home as the snow was getting very bad and that we may get snowed in! Went outside and it was at least 2 inches!
Moral of the story......... wet ground doesn't mean a thing.

Was snowing in Dagenham for about 30 mins. Now just raining again. What a let down!

If I was a betting man my money would be on no snow, slight wind and lots of rain for this weekend. Sorry to be a pessimist but this winter has been a bore fest for me so far. I need a snow fix to cheer me up.

I'm sorry, I'm quite new to all this. But, reading through the model and storm threads there seems to be little to get excited about in this region if that low tracks any further south. If it does then all we're going to get is a lot of rain and slight winds. From what I can understand it's very unlikely we will get any significant snowfall.
Please somebody tell me I'm wrong!

Basically, it's boring out there!

Had to do the same last night, only my couch is leather which is just a whole new problem in this heat! Just received my Air Cooler which I ordered 2 days ago, hopefully it will do the trick.
Come back Autumn/Winter, we miss you!
