  1. Big fat sleety flakes here on my bit of the coast, grass is beginning to turn white but not managing to lie on roads but temps are starting to fall now so I live in hope
  2. Currently snowing here and still a bit windy, gusting at 56mph (nothing compared to yesterday). Temps falling steadily now so hopefully I might see some actually stick later on in the day/evening
  3. Morning all. Still blowing a hoolie here but seems to be calming down, currently gusting at 63mph and at it's peak was 80mph. Managed to sleep on and off but house was literally shaking at times, don't appear to have any structural damage (still too dark to see properly) and still have power so all in all I seem to have got off lightly compared to other folks. Milkmaid, I hope that you and your family (and dogs) are all safe and well.
  4. Woohoo!! Just a thin dusting on all surfaces and slippy underfoot.........magic!!
  5. Morning all, been a long time since I posted but it seems that Winter is returning and with it my enthusiasm for the white stuff!! Had our first sleet shower of the year passing through just after 7am, temp currently 2.1c and not set to rise much more than a couple of degrees for the rest of the day..............lovely.
  6. Happy New Year to all the Kilted thread.........................hic
  7. Currently 2.1 c and light snow showers. Very light wind at the moment but expect this to crank up a bit in an hour or so. Winds don't look too fierce for here possibly gusting up to mid 60's so I will be getting off lightly compared to some of you folks, hope everyone stays safe.
  8. Still very windy here regularly gusting up to 56mph, the shore is littered with rogue wheelie bins and their contents strewn everywhere! The dafty family up the hill from me left their kids trampoline and plastic chute out unsecured in their exposed garden and they are now blowing around the street! Had graupel and light snow showers on and off all day, thankfully it's now cold enough for it to settle, currently 0 c and light snow.
  9. Currently 3.1c, feels a lot colder though. Clear blue skies and overnight frost still on the grass. Just been out to the garden and secured everything in anticipation of tomorrows hoolie.........................not looking forward to the wind, but a bit of the white stuff is never unwelcome
  10. Hi Cheggers, If i were you I would get in touch with Network Rail and ask them to inspect the site as it is their responsibility to ensure that it doesn't spread, and unfortunately if left untreated it will go on a rampage. This page from their website gives a wee bit info on their responsibility and a link for contacting them http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/1034.aspx Good luck
  11. Yup, not long passed overhead here too, woke up to some very loud bangs but passed on quite quickly. Just watching the garden getting a good soaking now.
  12. After a relatively cool night last night (11c) It has been beautiful sunshine since early on and now reading at 22c, not been affected by haar at all but can see a slight sea mist far out..............and as long as it stays out there I'm a happy chap(ess) Got the beers and the ciders chilling and will be having the 6th BBQ of 2013 later today...............................oh boy, I could really get used to this
  13. Currently 13c here and we even have some light rain, can almost hear my veggie beds sighing with relief! Will have to go on slug patrol in a bit, haven't been bothered by them much because it's been so dry but this wee shower will no doubt bring armies of the slimy cabbage munching beggars out.
  14. Braw sunny morning here, overnight low of 6.2c, currently 9c and looks to be a scorcher later on, might even reach the dizzy heights of 18c this afternoon! Biting the bullet and sowing peas, beetroot and carrot today cos' if I keep putting it off any longer I'm not going to have anything this year. Frightening thought about Midsummer being just round the corner, even just in my wee garden everything is well behind (leeks like thin blades of grass and tatties not showing) so from a farming/agricultural point of view you must be depressingly aware of the clock ticking on the growing season.
  15. Snow lying here on the Banffshire coast not much just a cm or so but enough to stop me putting my onions and tatties in.....................getting well scunnered now!
  16. This morning we again have a couple of cm's lying on all surfaces again at my bit of the coast here and it's snowing lightly at the moment. Similar to yesterday though I fear, as temps are starting to rise, 0.6 c currently so will no doubt melt quickly as soon as the sun appears.......................still lovin it though!!
  17. After a day of heavy snow showers yesterday but not managing to lie, I'm delighted to say that I have just opened the curtains to a couple of cm covering on all surfaces here. Road appears to be particularly bad where snow has fallen on ice as have just seen neighbour struggling to get his van up the brae. Temperatures already just above freezing so could be a bit marginal for me today but looking forward to what the rest of the day brings.
  18. Still lightly snawing here, but council gritter has just done the road and temps and dewpoint are on the rise now so will turn increasingly sleety I fear. Currently 1.9 c, dp 0 c.
  19. What a nice surprise just opened the curtains and it's snowing! Just a light covering so far but it's managed to stick to the road and everything is lovely and white, at a guess I'd say 0.5 cm so far..................really wasn't expecting to see any action today................ well chuffed.
  20. Blustery snow showers here currently 1.0 c and gusting around 50 mph.
  21. Just had to run out and pick up mine and the neighbours wheelie bins as the wind had taken them off down the street, have brought them back up to the house for a bit shelter and I'll keep an eye out for the bin lorry in the morning and quickly put them out then, Currently gusting at 62mph and my wee hoose is rattlin!! Stay safe folks, looks like it's gonna be a long night!
  22. Sorry Colsuth, I cannae understand it either. I'm just a bit along the coast from ye (near Banff) and it's been constant here since I woke up at the back o 6 this mornin.
  23. Snawing here at the coast for the last hour, settling nicely on top of existing snow but currently struggling on the road. Temps a bit higher than anticipated but starting to drop now, currently 1.8c
  24. After a day of constant light graupel yesterday the weather Gods have decided to smile on my little bit of the Banffshire coast this morning. Positively dinging it down with big flakes, everything white and can't see the sea even though it's just outside my front window! Looks as though it's set for the day now, will try and get some photos when/if visibility gets better.
  25. A grey dreich morning here on the Banffshire coast had a light sleety shower earlier but temps are rising now currently sitting at 3.2 I went a bit stir crazy just after New year and booked me and my hubby a last minute ski-ing holiday in Bulgaria leaving from Gatwick tomorrow, so we fly down from Aberdeen tonight. Although there's already a good base of snow out there and another substantial dumping due this weekend, temps are set to rise next week and it's looking more and more likely now that you guys are gonnae see more snaw falling than me !! Hope you all get a great dumping of the white stuff in the days to come
