  1. Sea fog lifting in the midday heat to reveal the Eifl mountains on the Llyn peninsula. More in the gallery http://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/album/1565-sea-fog/

  3. Yep. Looking North over the Moelwyn mountains from Llan Ffestiniog towards Snowdon (well hidden behind the ridge). The whole Northern horizon from left to right and 30° or so high was brightly illuminated with NL clouds at midnight. Sadly I didn't have my tripod and in a rush used the wrong camera settings so the blurred image was caused by the long exposure.
  4. Terribly out of focus photo of last nights spectacular display but you get the general idea. One of the best displays I've seen for a few years. I'll keep my eyes peeled again tonight as we only have light high cloud.
  5. Fantastic display tonight over Snowdonia. Midnight...Fading now.
  6. Looks like a faint glow on the low north horizon here, Get some light pollution here to the East from Wolves and West from Telford but North and South is usuallycrystal clear and the milky way normally easily visible
  7. Crackin pic from Hereford on spaceweather. http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=94857&PHPSESSID=3ls518qvbrncabqtbhcjrgsmg6
  8. Thunderstorm over the Moelwynions at 2am this morning. No gales this morning so a peaceful Christmas to you all!
  9. Frequent soft hail and snow/sleet showers off and on today, some heavy and squally.
  10. It was blowing a hoolie this morning. I heard on the radio that the record for the highest gust for Wales was broken today with an 87mph gust at Capel Curig.. "The spokesman for the Met Office said a new wind speed high had been recorded at Capel Curig in Conwy, North Wales, with gusts blowing at 87mph." http://news.sky.com/story/1186299/weather-two-die-as-storm-batters-country http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wl/capel_curig_latest_weather_graphs.html
  11. Nice to see the precipitation settling as snow at altitude.… Snowdon & Crib Goch from the East. Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach & Tryfan.
  12. Thunderstorm here also around 16:30. Arrived last night to 50+mph winds, horizontal rain and a power cut. Looks like we've got more of the same over the next few days but hopefully some of the white stuff on the mountain tops tomorrow.
  13. There are more important issues today, any day than the baggies squad.
  14. I've read many times, and from the most experieced of professional forecaster,s that marginal snow events are probably the most difficult to forecast when +/- 0.5C, 50m elevaltion and 50 miles can make all the difference. If all of us armchair critics can do any better and guarantee a 100% accruate forecast for the whole country then please stand up now and put their money where their mouth is . (That's meant as a tongue in cheek comment and not aimed at anyone specific.)
  15. 6:30pm BBC Midlands Today got it bang on for me. Snizzle at 4:30pm, snow from about 6pm, which barely gave a light covering, then heavy rain..Their live broadcast from Shrewsbury at 6:45 showed the presenter standing in the pouring rain. The further north and east was always going to be a more difficult call, especially after dark, but I got exactly what I had expected from my location.... mainly rain .....and now a nice sunny morning. EDIT:you can follow the animation (and whole presentation) through on I-player
  16. The gritter (Sth Staffs) and one using a plough has been up our country lane twice today which isnt even a bus route. That's twice more than I ever saw when comuting through Dudley for 10 years!! It took me over 5 hours to get home from Cradley Heath in 2004 and 07 if I recall correctly..... mind you there's a lot of hills in Dudley & the Black Country.
  17. The snizzle has slowed right down now and it's not keeping pace with the thaw. The tarmac on the drive that had a new covering this morning is beginning to melt, as is the covering on the car, Dew point has risen from -1 to 0. Shawbury showing an air temp of +1 now and dew point of 0. Maybe as Bish says, just a midday upward spike in temps,
  18. May be a tad behind real time, but weather station observations at Stratford says 0 and -3 .... BHam Int and Cov below freezing. http://skylinkweather.com/metar/metarmapindex.php?country=uk&stationid=EG66&scale=140&maptype=wind&mapstyle=cutout
  19. Very light rain here earlier. ... no more than a touch of drizzle but rain all the same.
  20. Maybe the bad weather has encouraged the scumbag low life theives to nick 4X4's... (although reports indicate they have been doing it more and more recently.) From local South Staffs Rural Watch..... It's not mine but please ring Police on 123 if you spot it "A Land Rover Defender was stolen from outside a house in Moor lane (Pattingham) last night, it is bright orange re no M651 MJF, they think they pushed it down the street, then started it. "
