Nice calm dry start to the day and have noticed a first bud on the tree outside the kitchen window!
-
Another miserable day today, looks as though it’ll clear up for the weekend thankfully.

nobble yep I must’ve missed that still snoring away Walk back from work tonight was pretty grim. Wind has picked up a little which made it feel colder. Still raining, albeit slightly wintry I think. Wouldn’t mind a few calm, dry and mild weeks now.

As expected, woke up this morning to heavy rain. Not even sleet!

MetO have gone from having snow here all Thursday into Friday on 5th February… to rain, rain, a little bit of sleet and more rain!
I’m all for getting warnings out as soon as possible but I can’t help but feel they were very premature with this one!- 1

Dancerwithwings I’m not sure. Rain, to snow, back to rain. Can’t see anything settling!

A horrible morning of rain for me I expect. All we’ve had this winter was a dusting in December. It’s just going to be slightly too north!

Another dry day today, hopefully with a little less wind! (The weather, not me)

Day off tomorrow and what looks to be a lovely day full of sunshine!

Seems worse outside tonight than the other night! Was surprised when I left work just how warm it felt too.

Much calmer this morning and didn’t wake up to destruction, unless everything is piled high in a corner somewhere

We’re one fence down from winds a couple of weeks back and one is almost out of the ground now.
We’re in by no means the worst place in the Midlands but it does seem the gusts are almost never ending. Another hour to go I’d say? -

Thanks! All okay, we will be leaving soon. Might be able to save on petrol if the wind is blowing the right way!

Been at the hospital all afternoon with my stepdaughter, popped outside a couple of times and the wind has really picked up now!

I see my neighbour has tried to strategically place their trampoline against their back wall ready for tonight. Let’s see if it works!

I’m not surprised to see the amber warning cover more of the UK now.
The period of time these strong winds will occur isn’t seen often. I mean, we’ll all be seeing hours of strong winds all evening and tonight, it doesn’t happen all too often to be this strong for this long. -
I can’t imagine how there isn’t, somewhere in the vast open space that we will never reach, there isn’t a similar solar system where everything is just perfectly placed for another earth.
I don’t for one minute think that they’re heading towards us in flying saucers beaming people up and taking them away though.
I hope they’re more intelligent than us though and realise how lucky they are that they’re on a planet just in the right spot for life and try to look after it and everything on it instead.

It’s winter here in the UK.
A storm can be a storm without being historic.
A cold spell can be a cold spell without being historic - as we have just seen.
Would it benefit us to return to a time when forecasts were forecasts without hype?
Agree on a lot of storms, I think we name too many, however this is bringing widespread gusts across the entire UK for a prolonged period, it deserves to be talked about.

Wind picked up during the night, seems to have calmed a little… enjoy it while it lasts!

Just back from my walk, felt bitterly cold in the wind, now back in the warmth with a sausage sandwich and cup of coffee!

A whole load of rain on Friday made for a grim day (an even more grim evening watching England!), nothing Saturday and a little overnight into Sunday morning but all dried up and that was pretty much our lot. Not quite as bad as forecast earlier in the week.
Have a good week everyone.

What a month that was. I had just moved back to Birmingham into a property that still had single glazed windows! Not ideal!

Prayers answered with a lovely day today after the autumnal rubbish we saw last week. Not expecting it to last though…
