  1. Grey, damp and dry at 9C (although rained earlier here). Is this the Indian Summer they were all on about the other day? The GFS looks like a bit of a downgrade this morning from yesterday? Where will be come Thursday?
  2. Charts still looking racy today. Very grey and damp again here - though dry at the moment. Mmm stovies sound good! I shared similar fare to BM with Scottish Cheese though mine was sadly on salad and not on a toasty tattie!
  3. I agree with you Blitzen! On all counts! Been watching the 18Z roll out at the mo and the swinging action going on in the models is always fun to watch! 2010 was special in terms of the early start, for us in Scotland especially. I'm happy to wait for my snow action too, so long as I do get a bit at some point! What I would like at the mo is to enjoy the autumn sights and smells without waders - hopefully this weekend will bring that.
  4. I flicked through the 00z this morning too Blitzen and from next wednesday onwards it certainly looked interesting - I will have a gander at the 6z in a min. Always fun to see pink on the precipitation charts even when its in complete FI. Though I'm still sceptical it will turn out like that - especially as the MO are still not making any reference in their outlooks (not that I take these as gospel). I imagine it will be a milder wetter outcome at this stage in Autumn.
  5. Helllooo! It's a dreich day and no mistake - cold, dark and wet. Ventured out with the children on foot just now and actually the rain became a little sleety (this is the only highlight in an otherwise miserable day). Edited - my Mum just rang to say it is snowing right now in Kingussie.
  6. My Mum said it was lightly snowing as drove down the A9 through the Pass this morning. Been a chilly, damp day. I have my hot water bottle out!
  7. Don't know if this will work but a good dumping of Snow in the Cairngorms last night. LINK
  8. Seems a bit tetchy on some threads today - October nerves before the main Winter event? Been a grey and occasionally wet day here today. I know I have some soggy leaves to collect, but been putting it off.
  9. No running this morning! Hope no-one is badly effected by flooding.
  10. Evening all Very wet and damp here - I think everywhere is though! Not let up in a while now. Certainly milder temperatures, but makes me want to go outside a lot less!
  11. We best enjoy it today because it looks like all turning to pish tomorrow and friday! Ground on the Inch is still very saturated despite the sunshine over the past few days, so could be very marshy come the weekend (the Met Office has issued weather warnings for both days). I see they are getting the big ramps out on the Winter thread already. I will keep my cautious hat on for now, because last winter never really got going here at least (though I think you did better in the Borders?).
  12. Another very frosty and foggy/with sunshine morning here too (-2C). Not a lot on this week with kids off school and it means that this morning I do not have to go out with my Stan Marsh ice scraper whilst muttering profanities.
  13. Hoping one of you got some nice piccys this morning! At 6.30 this morning the fog was heavy round here and boy was it cold on the run - had my hood up like a moody teenager for the first mile! The park benches were covered in ice, grass all frosty and car covered in a healthy layer again too! Now blue sky and sunshine - lovely autumnal weather. P.S don't envy you jump-starting etc in the cold this morning Cheggers! A bit cold to be faffing with spark plugs I imagine.
  14. Ditto the above! Went out for my run this morning and it was lovely and fresh, all though chilly-willy running through the fog! Just started to cloud over here, hoping this will pass by quickly. Looking like we might see a few dry days over the next week, which I for one will enjoy!
  15. Well I've had ice on the car the past two mornings in a row (first icy morning was a couple of weeks back) and so I have unashamedly got the heating coming on now! Only in the morning at 5am for 45mins, but I refuse to wake up in an ice-box and even him indoors isn't grumping about it!
  16. Beautiful morning! Ice on the cars, frosty, with mist covering the Tay, and the sun slowly rising.
  17. Afternoon! Today has been one of those days were it looks alright out the window - yet every time I take one step outside I get rained on. Suddenly feels a bit chillier in the past hour - don't know if the temp has dipped or I have! Any chance of frost the next few mornings?
  18. Random spotting off and on all day here, though has never really got going and has been interspersed with sunshine. Need to tackle the garden this weekend too, time to pack away the garden furniture and BBQ (which was used once in May ). I'm not sure if the grass will even need one more cut - don't think its grown much since its last trim.
  19. Not been a bad day in Perth with even some sunshine to be had - the calm after the storm. Looking like tomorrow will be similar fare for here with cooler autumnal temps but some sun - which I shall enjoy whilst we have it!
  20. Pretty windy here too this morning. Stay safe on the roads all.
  21. Thanks for the heads up Lorenzo! When do you think it will kick off up here today? Was a lot milder this morning (yes on a run edodfc ) though I did get a little bit of rain but only spotting and though breezy it was only light.
  22. Morning Kilters. Another foggy one this morning. Just seen the warnings from tonight for the SW of E. All the best on your drive Cheggers - I hate driving on windy motorways I always have to drive really slowly and clutch the steering wheel in a Mr Magoo fashion! Have had a nose on the Winter 12/13 thread and I'm amazed they are on thread 2 already and still quite a while to go! Although as Tescos have the selection boxes in already apparently it's just round the corner.
  23. Good morning to the Kilted Thread! Been awol most of the damp summer - though browsed occasionally. Hope you are all well! But, just wanted to note that at 6am this morning when I went for my morning run there was.......ice on the car! First time I've seen that in a while! Very autumnal this week.
  24. Well its been sleety/snowing here for hours, but not settling! A little dandruff on the grass and on top of the car, but none on the road or pavement etc. It's never become heavy here, though my friend up the hill has a good covering of 3cms or so.
  25. Congrats LSS! That's excellent! You will be 'freshing' it up before you know it! So we are all on lampost duty.....very surprised to be saying that again
