  1. This is amazing reading! I've not seen 10 inches of snow since the early 80`s!
  2. It's always the Daily Express or Daily Star that come out with rubbish weather headlines. The Daily Express will do it about 3 times a year. I remember in late July 2004 the Daily Star said it would be 40 degrees C on the 10th of August, I think the idea was 'well it was 39 in 2003'!
  3. Just seen my first flaDoh a dumb swear filter got the better of me Seems to be picking up a bit from the radar images. I thought the land might kill it. Going outside to watch it come in.
  4. I'm going to start this thread as yet another 2006 Autumn area of storms is making it's way into the southwest again. I can't ever remember seeing so many storm events in the southwest in October/November as 2006. This area is approaching The Bristol area now, no lightning visible yet but a new cell has developed before the main area which has just arrived. I'd expect the main thundery event providing it doesn't die out to arrive within an hour or so.
  5. I can see the lightning from Bristol. No rain here, moon shining
  6. Had a couple more storms this morning, 1 at around half 9 with very heavy rain & another around half 1 in the afternoon
  7. Another weak one again to the southeast of Bristol. Some more coming over Devon now I recon will be here around 7 AM
  8. Another cell now, it seems to be propergating in the same area for several hours now, in the Bristol/Bristol channel coast area. This ones slow, only a flash and rumble every 5 or 6 minutes
  9. I had the somerset storm inbetween half 10 & 11, again very heavy rain here as well. Another flash around midnight, currently raining again very heavy now as well
  10. Seems to be a new ceel on it's southwest edge that might actually hit Bristol this time. Got some nice lightning pics, gonna try and get some more. Pic didn't load? Here it is again
  11. Looks like it'll be an active night in the southwest! A lot heading into Devon area & a storm has exploded north on Bournmouth heading my way. Can see frequent lightning all over the place gradually getting nearer
  12. Best Bristol storm of the summer just past :-D
  13. Looks like I'm right. Theres a highly active/severe storm to the southeast of Bristol moving northwestwards now. Constant thunder. Probably in Andy Bowns area at the moment.
  14. Nice overnight storm here in the southwest of Bristol at the moment. Looks like from the radar an even larger storm is behind it
  15. I heard thunder around 14:00 to the southwest, I also believe we had a storm around 19:00 although I was at work then
  16. I'm still going for a very mild and stormy 89/90 winter. This summer has been so 89 like to me (way above average except August) so I just have a gut feeling that we'll get a similar winter
  17. Just noticed this thread, thought I'd put my non-technical educated guessing method to use! Well this summer seems a bit 89ish so far to me, very good May, June, July but August not matching. The other thing that springs to mind (not checked the stats) but a lot of people say following 76's summer it was very wet. The winter of 89/90 was extremely wet and stormy as well so I'm going for a wet Autumn/Winter!
  18. I could hear thunder and see lightning to the east of Bristol for about 30 minutes around midnight
  19. Thunderstorm in Bristol for the last hour, now moved north, seems to be weakening
  20. Thunderstorm to my east at the moment
  21. I noticed the other day you recorded 28 degrees C when in the center of Bristol it was 23. I goto Yatton a lot and it's not 5 degrees warmer than Bristol so I'd say you need to relocate your thermometer
  22. Just got home from work, new it would happen before I got home! Impressive storm, very heavy rain & overhead lightning. I work at Bristol Airport & it got struck! knocked out phone lines and the Airports radar, nothing could take off for a while.
  23. It's a nice storm but I'm a bit dissapointed with the rain so far
  24. Still light snow in Bristol. Radar looks promising for a fairly long but light fall of snow:-)
  25. I also saw the Bristol storm inbetween 5 and 6 PM. There was a later storm to the southeast of the city/Bath way at about 6
