  1. Beautiful sunny day, and no wind! Been out for walk, just been looking at all the flowers coming up in our garden, we moved here after last spring so didn't know until now what we had bulb wise in the garden. Boy cat has found a nice sunny spot and is sunning himself.
  2. Well in the end didn't quite match up until Christmas storm for wind speed but it certainly went on for longer! Shattered this morning, luckily it doesn't look like we have damage, just a few branches lying around the garden. Is that it now?
  3. Is that from their weather station as I can't see higher than 43mph, but it has got up again in the last few minutes.?Boy cat abandoned attempts to leave house and is now on the sofa with me and girl cat.
  4. yes, last time that happened at Christmas they got told to make their own way home from Liverpool apparently!
  5. According to the Reigate Grammar School weather station we are 4mph off the strongest gusts of 24/12/13, at 47mph. This feels like more sustained wind though, house creaking much more. Girl cat and I are cuddled on sofa, she is blissed out with her catnip, I have gin. Boy cat is attempting to get out through the locked cat flap, I believe he is a cat with very little brain.
  6. So in summary Tamara - yikes! These posts are why I tend to stay in this forum rather than try to decipher anything in the MOD thread between the snow bickering.
  7. Raining heavily in Reigate now, gusts up to 39mph recorded so far and it's picking up, pressure dropping rapidly.
  8. Well fingers and everything else crossed that it doesn't get you, good luck! Grey and raining here........again
  9. Hi Surrey, how is it with you this morning? I am listening to Radio 4 at the moment, they are interviewing people evacuated to Thorpe Park.
  10. It's raining again, in Reigate. Now I wasn't expecting that! Really want to get out and start cycling again but most of the tracks I go down are mudfests at the moment. Still that's a pretty minor issue compared with the threat of being flooded out or actually being flooded out.
  11. Nearly 15mm of rain today in Reigate, hail early morning and thunder/lightning late morning. It's unremitting and frankly tedious now, still at least we aren't flooded like some poor souls.
  12. Don't post very often but enjoy reading this thread, find it far more informative than others, as I can understand most of it! Love Charlton's stories of weather in days gone by and John's evening updates. To keep on topic, the wind is getting up in Reigate, gusts of around 35mph, pressure is dropping and becoming rather overcast.
  13. 20p flakes but not many of them. Daughter has just measured snow depth at 8cm in the garden and assessing the snowman building potential for tomorrow.
  14. Hi, a question for the experts on here. I've checked the snow risk for my area for this weekend and would like to understand if the 850 temp or the hpa measure is more important? I've a good chance of snow on Friday and Saturday but either the temp or pressure isn't below what is deemed generally needed so I was wondering if one is needed more than the other?
  15. Just measured, just over 7cm, definately a snowsmans worth in the garden, now have I got some carrots?
  16. Sliding off the bushes and other bits and pieces in the garden here, 0.5C, not sure we are going to hold the snow for long, will enjoy while can!
  17. D'oh ok, I haven't got any lamposts down my road! That's my excuse anyway!
  18. Question, what's the deal with lamposts? Someone up thread mentioned looking at the radars and lamposts. I get the radar but is lampost code for something?
  19. Right, shall be sensible in post, sorry mods! Disappointed to see no frost on car this morning after humidity rose so quickly in the very early hours. Still - 2 here and much cloudier than of late. Been called to business continuity planning meeting just in case weekend plans out how we are hoping.
