Very close to me in the radar now and still creeping north. Surely it can’t stop this close?

Looking good. Our current shower (south Manc) originated Blackpool and moved through Preston. A nice line of showers forming.
Yes it looks like anything coming through Preston should hit Manchester. Big shower imminent.

It achieved it's purpose then lol
Radar showing everything exiting stage right, but still very slow progress and continuing light snowfall.
Looks to me like this is still pivoting over us and won't be going anywhere quickly.
I can also see a few heavier pieces of ppn pepping up over the north east that we may be able to drag into the equation.

I look like I am in a sweet spot here, it looks like the snow band will arrive and then sink south keeping me in the ppn for a good 6/7 hours. Fingers crossed.

Snow wise north westerly are better for our region, especially the more southern parts of the region. But northerly's tend to favour North Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland & east coasts. However there has been instances where a northerly has brought decent snows via a cold front/polar low pushing south. But more often than not it's north westerlys that are better.
Let's hope for a good north westerly then.

I see in the mod thread that we have a good chance of a northerly/ north westerly. Am I right in thinking we usually do quite well in this kind of setup.

Thanks mapants.
All though I am such a novice that I don't really understand what effects they have on the overall Synoptics pattern.
