Hi everyone, been a while since I posted but we had the first real snow this morning and currently temperature has fallen to 4c and thinking at the moment that we will see some more here in Shaftesbury where the height of 220m asl will help. No point in watching forecasts or the models as all too close to call, window model is the best!! Been lucky this year to have seen the Northern Lights, the permanent night of an arctic day in temperature that was -32 on the coldest day. Don't think we will get that in Dorset!!

Worldwide Mountain & Snow Sports Discussion 2022/23

Just returned from a week in Abisko and Kiruna, northern Sweden. Beautiful snow and mountains plus the famous Aurora lights! Temperature varied from -5 to -15 during the day in Abisko and -10 to -20 at night. Kiruna, home to the Ice Hotel was -32 on Sunday with 15cms of snow overnight. That's my snow fix for the next 10 years at least! Just outside the polar night but strange being in light but with no shadows- 389 replies

Temperature 3.6c, hazy with pockets of frost left in the fields. More of a breeze this morning which made it chilly out of the sun. Beautiful morning's dog walk, heard a least 2 woodpeckers and had close contact with a couple of buzzards (Ice thinks he can fly). Looking set, dry and ok for the week.

First post for a week as not a lot to say! Rain has been wet, wind has been very windy at times and the temperature has been consistent mild mush the whole week. In short boring and not used friendly at all. This morning's dog walk was very wet underfoot, bog like at times, mild, rain in the air with a cloud base around 900'. Current temperature 9c, ugh

Still snow left on the ground and current temperature -0.7c. I haven't any technical knowledge except having lived through some great cold spells from the 70's on cold highs are very difficult to budge and often come back with a vengeance after relaxing for a short period of time. The continent is very cold and likely to stay like this for sometime and even a slack southeasterly will be cold. I feel we are not done yet with the cold but will have to go through a short period of average temperatures first.
