  1. This endless rain is way beyond a joke now. It's been pounding it down again here for the last couple of hours. I went out in the garden earlier and everything is absolutely saturated from the fence to the flowerbeds.
  2. Yes but 1878 is fairly recent in the history of the earth.
  3. We had flashes of lightning and a few rumbles of thunder earlier around 8pm.
  4. Heavy rain again here and it looks likely to last for many hours yet. Wish I had a rain gauge however I keep a plastic tumbler outside in a fairly sheltered corner of the patio for cleaning brushes etc which is about 7" tall. I last emptied it about a week ago and yesterday it was overflowing again.
  5. I agree weather wise as it’s now grim for most of the year.
  6. I guess that proves it's weather that provides the bulk of the UK's heat. Not the position of the sun.
  7. Here it's been jetwash style horizontal 60mph drizzle for what seems like days on end now. The price to pay for 12 degrees I guess. Still I'd rather take this than my car doors being frozen shut when it was minus 5.
  8. Pounding rain on the roof. This has to be the wettest period for many years. I haven't seen dry roads for weeks. Still at least it's fairly mild.
  9. Endless grey skies and either drizzle or rain proper for what seems like weeks on end now (although I'm sure we've had drier interludes). The dampness gets into your bones. No sane person would choose to live in NW europe.
  10. Lashing rain now against my window pane. I haven't seen a dry ground in about 3 weeks. Those 3 weeks in June without rain seem a long time ago now. Nature always catches up.
  11. A glorious morning here but as usual the cloud has rolled in from the west and its now completely overcast.
  12. And still the never ending rain lashes down. My neighbour now has a pond in his garden. Would look nice with some koi. Hope the TUI B738 can be pulled out of the clag without too much damage. Until then the LBA remains closed. Lots of surface water and local flooding of side roads on the way home. Not a good day.
  13. Bit of a fail with todays forecast with lots of heavy showers around.
  14. Today is turning into quite a pleasant day of sun after a cold start. Last night got down as low as 2.2c (much lower than forecast) and there was ice on the car windscreen.
  15. Unless you live in northern Scotland. Don't think they'd like another 9.4c day.
  16. Still overcast here with just the odd spell of hazy sunshine. The cloud just won't shift.
  17. Slowly improving now. Can see the odd patch of brightness.
  18. Very misty and murky here this morning with the airport currently reporting a met vis of 150m & a temp of 13c. Lets hope it improves as forecast.
  19. I'm in Otley this morning and the sun is just starting to break through. Agreed though it looks much clearer towards the west.
  20. Overcast here and looks to be that way for the rest of the day so its the Met office 1 bbc nil for today. The rain over the Irish sea appears to be creeping ever so slowly eastwards extends as far south as north wales.
  21. Much the same here despite the glorious forecast. Not been a good week for the forecasting authorities.
  22. The met office & bbc forecasts at present for Leeds tomorrow are like chalk & cheese. How could they be so different with 24hrs to go? Hope the bbc one comes off.
  23. Watching the BBC weather (which is quite a rarity for me) on Tuesday tea time the presenter waved their hand over the bulk of England & Wales commenting 'thats it for rain' in the south of the UK as high pressure builds. Well Weds was a reasonable day, I'll give them that. Now we have rain bearing lows from the west for today & tomorrow. How can they miss those?
  24. Pretty grim and overcast all day with low cloud and intermittent drizzle. Just 13.7c in rather a stiff northerly.
