  1. Here's a pic. This now looks even better - the top seems to be stretching out.
  2. Clouds look pretty spectacular to the north of me, a couple even have anvil features, but still nothing on radar! Grrr!
  3. Some very tall clouds going up north of me and wind has picked up noticeably. Can't see anything on radar yet though.
  4. Some faint hope for tomorrow... http://ukasf.co.uk/storm-forecasts/254 MO have also switched from sun to 40% precip risk in the afternoon for my area.
  5. What a surprise, storm risk for Essex has now had a slight decrease from 72% to 0%!
  6. Fingers crossed for Wednesday for us. Still a long way to go though.
  7. Can't see much happening around here today - I'm holding out for Wednesday - 72% chance of a storm.
  8. Plenty of cumulus popping up here but no sign of any significant height.
  9. Doesn't sound overly promising... http://ukasf.co.uk/storm-forecasts/253
  10. Thanks Panayiotis - that was the line that actually prompted my question. It came over my house and produced a couple of flash/bangs. I just found a very interesting pdf via Google detailing a tornadic squall line that passed over London. It seems that in the situation outlined, the most important factor was strong low level shear, there was little cape available although it seems that a jet fed in from the rear of the line may have boosted its severity...... http://www.essl.org/ECSS/2009/preprints/P07-08-clark.pdf‎ Much appreciate any more information if anybody has anything to add. Cheers.
  11. Anybody have any charts/examples of how squall lines typically evolve in the UK?
  12. I was looking at blitzortung. The strikes seem to line up with the brightest radar echo areas. I guess it depends on the processing delay also - how quick it gets uploaded to the website.
  13. Looks like it could eventually be heading my way with a bit of luck, given wind direction around the low in the north sea.
