  1. Right on cue the sun now starting to shine through the murk here.
  2. It's still very overcast here in Southampton too but don't worry, the main storm action isn't expected until much later into this evening and tonight and it looks like skies are clearing from the south east. Impossible to pin down specific areas yet but looks like most of southern England is in the game at least.
  3. Bad timing this for me, I'm supposed to be driving up to Northants tomorrow to see family, yet Saturday night into Sunday looks to be the best potential. Thinking of delaying going up until Sunday now, I'm sure they'll understand! We've been spoiled here with the incredible storm a month ago as well as the overnighter last July, which has given me much more confidence in these actually coming off. Looking forward to the next few days!
  4. Yes I heard that too, was pretty loud even here. I'm just on the edge of it all but looks like some pretty torrential rain headed your way.
  5. Quite a few strikes not registering on Lightning Maps, that's turned into quite an intense cell heading over the Forest now.
  6. Just seen lightning to the west and it's gone very dark and eerie.
  7. Hedge End area according to Lightning Maps. I just about heard it here but nothing since.
  8. Nice big convective splats of rain and feeling very humid! And some hail mixed in too.
  9. Had a few rumbles from the little storm that passed over here around an hour ago. Tried to chase but was defeated by the rush hour traffic. Did see a nice double rainbow though.
  10. A video I took from Saturday night of the insane rain and flash flooding (sorry for some of the language lol) I've been to Florida several times but Saturday night was probably the heaviest rain I've ever seen in my life. Combined with 4/5 hours of almost constant lightning it's made for a pretty decent start to the storm season! Feel sorry for the people who had their property damaged though.
  11. Wow, been out chasing the last few hours and just got back, honestly haven't seen anything like that before. After catching the original storm here at around 7ish, I then headed to Hayling Island to the sea front to see the storms that were a bit further east heading towards the mainland. Had a great light show out to sea with a few close strikes virtually overhead too. Then started heading back to Southampton after seeing there was more lightning activity headed for here. Plan was to get to Weston Shore but on getting into Southampton the heavens just opened and I've never seen such torrential rain, even in Florida. The roads were literally becoming rivers and several cars had got stranded in the floodwater, fire engines racing to the rescue, alarms going off, all while the lightning was flickering away overhead. Did get some video on my phone which I will try and upload at some point. Best storm for years even beating the overnight plume in July last year. Can't believe it's only April, tonight was a real treat but I hope everyone has stayed safe.
  12. Strikes on the IOW now. All looks to be taking a right turn and veering to the east of here so think I'm gonna have to jump in the car soon.
  13. All very cloudy and disappointing here, although still feeling quite humid.
  14. Yes sadly looks like the end of it now, but what an epic few days it's been even surpassing what we got two weeks ago. March 2018 will be remembered forever more in here. It actually feels normal now looking out the window and seeing several inches of lying snow! Next winter has a lot to live up to.
  15. I'm just round the corner from that first one. It has been coming down heavy but very small flakes, road and pavement has gone white again. Don't think we're gonna get much more looking at the radar but Dorset should do very well!
  16. The flakes are tiny here, won't get much of a top up if they stay at this size. Anything now is a bonus anyway.
  17. So heavy overnight snow and into this morning giving us several inches, then Saints reach the FA Cup semi-finals, followed by more snow in the evening? Yes please! If Carlsberg did Sundays...
  18. Just got back from a walk through town and up to the Common and it's glorious, I wasn't really expecting much from this but it probably surpasses the other week. Still snowing as well! March is the new January!
  19. Woke up around half an hour ago to a nice covering of several centimeters, and it's still snowing. Got icicles hanging from the street lights again too! Can't believe after years of no lying snow, we've now had two events in as many weeks. And it's not even winter!
  20. Raining here, and the big icicle on the lamppost outside has just gone. Guess that's it for another seven years.
  21. Yes eagerly awaiting that update. I live a 15 minute walk from St Marys and the roads round here are passable, gut feeling is it will be on unless there is further heavy snow, which looks unlikely now.
