  1. Beautiful twilight yesterday. The daffs are on the turn now.
  2. Right on cue tonight. He is investigating the steading already. I love his chattering.
  3. Starlings are nesting in the cooker extractor vent ! A nice but odd musical accompaniment to breakfast and dinner. Bluetits have been nipping out and in of the nest box. A pair of Pied Wagtails have set up home in the wood shed, and so warmer weather would be welcome as we can't feed our stove now. Looking forward to the return of our Barn Swallows. Usually they arrive here between 18th-21st April.
  4. Currently 5kp. Clear here, but no sightings.
  5. Tweet "BGS Space Weather ‎@BGSspaceWeather Next 72hrs-ACTIVE. CH that caused STORM last time around expected back late on 1st/early 2nd. Likely to cause ACTIVE with some STORM periods"
  6. For heaven's sake, why should one moaning post on a moaning thread generate such a reaction? Folk who make these negative responses should reflect on how they are viewed by the many on here who subscribe to and access the site to learn and maybe, yes, have some banter, but not to be shot down at every turn.
  7. I do read, Mark, but that comment is neither friendly nor helpful
  8. I would really appreciate if the wise and experienced contributors to the forum would "simplify" the possible model outcomes - for "baby" learners - ie those with only basic understanding of meteorology. Previous occasional explanatory posts have been very helpful. At the moment many posters seem to be commenting in riddles.
  9. Could someone kindly explain the term "Sceuro" ? Many thanks
  10. Heavy snow shower, just passed over, and now there is watery sunshine. It's going to be a freezing night, tonight, I think. This morning ( Mon. 27 April ) the car windscreen was a solid sheet of frozen sleet/hailstones not capable of being scraped off. I had to use a bank card to prize the sheet of ice off the edges of the wipers, glass edges etc. - nearly missed my train!
  11. Robin in winter sunshine (through window)
  12. Has this very "popular" post been responded to by forum hosts or moderators? If it has , the response has been lost ( to me) in the jumble of the preceding posts to this post.
  13. I know this sort of post is discouraged on the MOD thread, (I have also used the fave facility!) but as a learner, i think this is an excellent idea.
  14. "weather bomb" Argyll coast 10th December.
  15. Being uneducated regarding weather sciences ( although not uneducated in certain other regards), I find John's advices very helpful as basic starting points in understanding the models. In order to progress, it is necessary to have a framework on which to grow the knowledge.
  16. Roll on mid January when we can actually appreciate (slightly) longer daylight hours.
  17. I would like to introduce myself and say hello to the forum with this photo (Loch Rannoch) I enjoy reading all the different sections in the Community, although too "ignorant" to make positive comments on the weather related threads.
