  1. I'm currently in the city centre and from the window it looks almost like rain [it definitely isn't] but that's how fine it is. Very powdery. Wind is blowing at around everywhere. It is covering pavements and cars etc in a fine dusty later.
  2. Is there any chance of the snow getting heavier in Leicester?
  3. Quite bizzare in Leicester. The snow is extremely powdery but it's settling. Normally fresh snow isn't slippery but walking conditions are ridiculous. Really slippery!
  4. Not snowing here and I don't think it did overnight either.
  5. It's gone really quiet in here and model discussion thread. What's going on!
  6. Eh did anyone notice this. Heavy Snow for Leicester this evening with 80% chance http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/leicester-city-fc#?tab=fiveDay&fcTime=1358380800 It didn't materialise, however.
  7. Same here. I can't complain, considering I wasn't expecting any snow at all today - so all this is just a bonus!
  8. I'm in Oadby / Stoneygate and the snow flakes around 10p size. I'm hoping the 50p size are on the way!
  9. Has Met Office updated for Leicester? Site won't load for me for some reason
  10. VERY VERY light snow just started in Leicester (City Centre)...
  11. Feel slightly silly for getting all excited over the past few days now haha
  12. But when it comes to light snow or heavy snow forecasts, how accurate are they? I've seen light snow forecast only for there to be no snow or the opposite and for there to be heavy snow. I'm going to follow forecasts with great interest up until this evening and then after that just window watch!
  13. Met Office is showing constant light snow starting from Friday morning and continuing up until Saturday night. Then it resumes again on Sunday night. May not be heavy, but still good.
  14. Thanks for your reply. Yep, looking at met office and then following the forum has lead to some confusion for me I.e the other day there was massive excitement over possibilities of snow for fri and met office was showing nothing of the kind. But it's totally understandable why met office didn't do so prematurely.
  15. Thanks! I'm in Leicester. Will update my profile.
  16. Hahaha well that would indeed be frustrating, reading everyone sharing there snow stories and pictures while we look out the window at rain or something
  17. Any update on the possibility of temporary merge back with West Mids for the weekend or so? I know I'm new but think it'd be cool if it turn out to be massive snow event for the discussion to be shared.
  18. Met Office is only showing light snow for Leicester on Friday. Are they being cautious as not to cause mass panic by forecasting lots of heavy snow or have models etc changed now and it's looking less likely since yesterday? I'm posting this from my phone so can't really browse this or other threads properly at the minute. Thanks
  19. I was just thinking of Feb 09 yesterday. The snow in Leicester was incredible. It was the good old days of being a college student; went to the local golf course which just had acres of untouched, fresh snow which was well over ankle deep...
  20. I'm completely new to all this so may have interpreted it wrong. However do those charts suggest pretty much everywhere is looking at a minimum of 5cm of snow?
  21. Very light snow just started in Leicester. As yesterdays snow has now frozen over. Does this give any new snow falling a better chance of settling on top or does it give it less chance if it dissolves once hitting the frozen over ice?
  22. Hi, After observing these forums for a while, one thing which becomes evident is that with snow, the forecasting is very volatile. It almost appears to change every ten minutes with new factors coming in to play and changing things. Now when Met Office, BBC etc forecast, they will forecast and leave it for hours before making changes. Thus, does this mean when it comes to snow they will be inaccurate a lot of the time? Also is there brief explanation as to the reason why snow forecasting is so difficult and is prone to change a lot? Thanks
  23. So is this it in terms of the snow Leicester will have? From tomorrow met office is forecasting it to be dry and sunny......
  24. Very light snow now (Leicester City Centre)
