I do, Farmers do,Building industry, and so on. Since 2007 we have experianced way above temps In March and April only for Below temps from May onwards and wash out Summers,The longer this current trend carries on the better...
That's not set in stone though, I'm sure there's not a direct correlation mate!
-
quite a spread hey! the control and the op go opposite ways around the 13th. uppers ranging from +10 all the way down to -12!
i'll take the control pls
while the uncertainty remains, i guess we are in with a fighting chance....
Who wants a cold snap in March? The snow will instantly turn into a slushy mess with the strength of the sun. Bring on the warm weather now!

Well following yet another non event, it's very dull outside this morning. After all the hype following the SSW, it's been a bit of a let down. Bring on the nice warm spring sunshine now 😊

Is this the summer regional thread now that the snow flurries have stopped?
May as well be as winter is over now, lets face it :-(

Reply to the hot summers of 2005/6
One of those years had a huge thunder storm in june that spread across the whole country and cause serious flash flooding everywhere, was the heaviest rain and loudest thunder I'd ever seen/heard. The news papers called it a monsoon if I remember right.
I remember that event, it was quite something. I hope we see something similar this year!

Its when you stated there was a blizzard in my area based on god only knows what. Then there was the comment that a yellow warning hadn't been issued by the met office as it was after 5 and they had probably gone home. So please don't compare yourself to more experienced posters.
Well said and was exactly the point I was making. We should leave forecasts to those with the knowledge and experience to make them. I totally respect the experienced posters on here!

The Thames streamer just didn't happen, it was not unreasonable a few days ago to think it might, the conditions were there for it, ENE wind, the right uppers but it just didn't happen sadly, I don't regret my prediction as 2 of the most respected members of the board Roger J Smith and Steve Murr were very enthusiastic about the idea.
Roger even predicted a foot of snow so it wasn't just a snow enthusiast like me that called the Thames streamer
The air has been far too dry to support vast quantities of snow. I never thought it would happen and it didn't. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any of your predictions have materialised this winter!
-
I see those predicting several inches of snow are quiet this morning. I think the realist amongst us knew that was never on the cards from the start!
-
im not so sure he will col, that arm of moisture heading up out of the continent is actually beginning to intensify and the thinner cloud over the north sea ahead of the front is thickening up all the while, convection looks very plausible at the moment .
Possibly, but I still think it's unlikely (unless you live in Dover). Apart from the odd flurry, I think it will be predominantly dry in our neck of the woods.
-
No chance here. Northerly wind.
Exactly, the wind is more northerly, so will definitely not bring in anything off the continent. Also, it's a false return on the radar!
-
There is even some reds on the Belgian mainand, those make UK some people will be waking up to a winter wonderland tomorrow, very heavy blizzards
You'll end up with egg on your face again mate!
-
Things just didnt work out
The prediction was reliant on a thames streamer, we had the right ingredients, an ENE wind, the right uppers, we just didnt have the convection, i would say we were quite unlucky.
onions happens
This is why I never make predictions!

I see CWT's prediction of a foot of lying snow on the downs was spot on lol
-
Not for us it wouldn't though, the NW and north Wales would get several feet of snow from that chart but on the precip we were shown as getting rain/sleet so would be no use for us
Several feet lol

I think you're misquoting him somewhat, or certainly embellishing his statement, if nothing else.
I totally agree. Ian actually says 10cm is an over estimate and 3 to 6 cm limited.
-
I am going to stick my neck out and say that somewhere will have at least a foot of lying snow at some point this weekend
Kent or South Downs have to be favourites but north downs / South West London may be the sweet spot if there is a potent Thames streamer
I doubt that very much!
-
I agree! Anybody could have written that with every winter scenario under the sun there!

The band of snow is now melting faster than my Nephew's snowman. That's it for tonight.
-
I think that was just some temporary interference on the radar, the cloud is almost over me now but only a few flakes coming down, looks to be dying out. Did like your style earlier, took a bit of flack well. Hope you get some snow soon.
It definitely was interference on the radar. It seems to happen a lot in that area of the North Sea
-
The main band is still doing it's level best to fire up in the estuary, it's not giving up the fight, if it keeps going until things go ENE there is still everything to play for
I'm not so sure. We need a stronger ENE flow and lower 850's for a true Thames streamer. Think it best to declare this game over tonight I'm afraid.
-
Just as I say that the crocodile band dies :/
It will die now just like the rest of the precipitation across the UK mate.
-
The band of snow to the east is now starting to lose intensity!
-
Love storms, love any form of extreme weather, blizzards, storms, tornados, extreme rain, look forward to summer storms, even better some thunder snow this winter hopefully
I admire your enthusiasm, but sometimes it's best to take a step back and then get excited as and when things unfold. I too hope well all receive unexpected snowfalls etc.
-
That stuff over France-Kent-Essex, any chance any of that will be sent down the estuary by way of a Thames streamer? I have no idea what the wind direction is in the estuary so it's a question not a prediction
The wind is turning more easterly, an east north east would be perfect though

Heavy snow here in Bracknell. It's settling on all surfaces now 😊
