Just a few days ago people were saying March was going to be very cold and snowy, but now winter is "over"? It's laughable how unreliable the longer range forecasts are! Don't bother getting caught up in them as they've rarely or never been right this winter..
-
@fergieweather: W COUNTRY Track of snow area will be southwards of circa M4-Bristol, perhaps giving 1-2cm on Mendips Plateau and uplands of E Somerset.
-
Awaiting next radar update but it seems to be changing direction and moving SW. In which case it will just miss S Wales. Typical.
-
S Wales could be hit by some rain, sleet or snow as this PPN is intensifying and moving west quite quickly. Keep an eye out!
-
The current lack of PPN could be a blessing in disguise as a lot of the water near me in draining away. Hopefully better chance of settling snow for us all later.
-
2 degrees in Newport, surely wintry PPN can't be that far away now..
-
Just goes to show the panic and misery related to snow many days before its forecast to hit is ridiculous! Only take notice 6-12 hours before and even then it's changeable. . .

im not trying to cause trouble now but who does think winter could be over as far as snow (sticking around snow)? if you remember Foggybrynna did have quite a few people question his post only a few days ago, but there does seem to be quite a few now who think the same. if there is snow going to come today due to heights it norm comes right behind my house on the bwlch so will keep checking later today but to be honest I cant see any snow coming now (I may be wrong) temps are way to high. I think that's it for snow sticking around, we may have one or 2 little dustings like we had few days ago but as for proper snow time is moving away now. looks like we back to the rainy season ha ha. it does not seem to take much rain now for the streams to start back up on the mountain. few years ago there was only 7 runs coming down now when it rains there are 11 and when we have days of rain there are much much more. we do need a long dry spell as the ground is full of water.
We could still have lots of snow to come, but you are right about it not sticking around. The chances of sticking snow are decreasing day on day with the suns rays getting stronger. Especially the closer to sea level you are.
Anyway it's currently pouring down with rain here. I can barely see S Wales on the radar!

Looked good for a bit of a covering higher up in E/SE Wales mon morning, although after all that rain and the snow not very heavy, it may be too soggy!
-
Post from the south west thread from AWD.
Looks better for us in SE Wales, could these upgrades continue though? I sure hope so!
This is the snow accumulation for 48hrs, move it 50miles west and we could be in the fun and games!
Ohh snow for Newport + Cardiff? Too good to be true?
-
Some areas of S and SE Wales have light sleet/snow forecast on the M.O website for Monday morning. Better than rain or nothing at all.
There may be more upgrades.. I hope.
-
Wow I've seen lots of photos of streets completely buried.
Where does the snow actually go? It looks like people can't physically get out so is there a rapid melt coming or what?
-
While the photos show a lot of snow, it's definitely not 2-3 feet... yet perhaps..
-
Despite the downgrade for S Wales, remember we're still a while away and there could be more downgrades or upgrades. Wait until 24 hrs before ;-)
-
Amazing how much snow we could still be getting, after an already big snow event in January..
Some years in Newport we barely see a snow shower and 2 hours of settling snow. This winter is far from average, for here at least.
-
Despite the lack of wintry showers, it's not that bad here. Nice blue skies and sunshine in the SE
-
Blue skies in Newport!! Forecast couldn't be any more wrong?
-
http://www.cbwac.com...ge_Pro_Plus.htm dramatic temperature drop at the Cardiff Bay Barrage.
The Barrage recorded a wind speed of 67mph!
Wow! I knew it felt strong on the coast, thank god I wasn't imagining things. :-)
Seems strange outside now though, quiet with little or no wind.. Calm before the next storm hopefully
-
WOW the wind is INTENSE!!! I can't remember a time where the wind and rain was suddenly so strong. Kinda scary outside.
-
Temp is 6 degrees in Newport. Don't think we'll see anything settling here tomorrow, too close to the coast. Oh well!
-
A lovely sunny day indeed! It's just a shame that it's 2 degrees rather than 20 degrees.
Roll on Summer..
-
Rained for most of the day in S Wales. Lot's of surface flooding in Monmouthshire, some fields have turned into temporary lakes!
-
Next batch of storms will hit Cardiff & Newport shortly.. just as intense as earlier and last night according to the radar
-
Lightening and very loud thunder close to Newport just then. 2 nights in a row of storms - love it!

Raining here in coastal Newport
