Sounds like fun .
Glad it's going well for you and Liza.
EVERYBODY TAKE NOTE FOR ANDY HAS SPOKEN.
The leader of forecasting in the Wales forum said the cold will return !!
Will Andy be right yet again ?
Personally I wouldn't mind a very early spring with temps in the mid teens and plenty of currant bun .
Right yet again?? Didn't he predict the previous cold spell would last much longer? Oh and then the current mild spill would be very brief? Both wrong lol! I'll stick to forecasts with some evidence.

Counted 6 lightening strikes and a few more thunder claps in Newport, along with torrential rain! Amazing fortnight of weather
-
The snow is very patchy now on pavements but still 3-4 inches on raised surfaces. I'm quite looking forward to a change in weather, bring on the gales and heavy rain!
-
Barely anything in Newport but I went into rural Monmouthshire just mere miles away and over a foot with everything coated in snow. It was magical. :o
-
Snow stopped in Newport. Might be the last until February, or dare I say it... Next winter!
-
6 hrs of moderate-heavy snow now and 1cm in places, starting to notice more slush, puddles and snow sliding off cars. Unbelievable
-
Really frustrating hearing about higher up places nearby having 5+ inches
V disappointing last snow event of the cold spell. Can you tell if i'm bitter yet hahaha
-
I live in Celtic Horizons by Asda, snowed since 6pm heavy, temp -0.5, dew point -0.8 and yet although settling, it's just a thick dusting. Also thawing, can hear dripping and can see it melting on patio! Wierd!
We would have had many inches if we were further inland, instead there's just 1cm and patchy.
-
Still no accumulations to shout about in Newport despite snow for the past 4 hrs.
-
The PPN is definitely pivoting. Could be lot's more snow to come for SE Wales and W Midlands just like the forecast said. Spot on!
-
The PPN on the radar near newport hasn't moved at all for the past 45 minutes, it's either broke or stalled lol
-
Latest NAE and GFS have heavy snow/ppm for SE Wales! With the ppn charts showing 9-16mm for the morining which is equivalent to 9-16cm! This then goes onto adding a further 2mm on top at 12pm!
More info as the NAE updates its ppn type after!
The PPN we have now must stall over us all night then?
-
bit of a lull in the snow at the moment ,much lighter but quite hard to tell in the wind.
Seems heavy by me still, flakes are smaller than earlier but it's settling because there's a layer already on the ground.
-
The PPN to the north of Newport is dropping south and intensifying? It looked like we were going to be snow-free for an hour or two but the radar says otherwise!
-
Still snowing heavily in Newport, must be close to an inch now.
-
If it's pivoting and the PPN just to the north of Newport/Cardiff drops south... PEFECT!
-
Everything's white here now. Just need it to keep on snowing alllllll night haha
-
Is the PPN staying over S Wales? It doesn't seem to be moving north or westwards. Unless it's really slow.
-
Snowing nice and steadily in the west of Newport now, we are on a hill but I'd say nearly and inch has fallen in the last hour and half. Main road beginning to get covered. If this is in for the night, it should be a really good covering by the morning
You're lucky!
We have a covering here but it varies a lot. Pavement and roads about 1cm, cars a bit more and then over an inch in "mini drifts" where the wind has blown it about lol.
-
Just checked temp in garden and it's -1.5. Annoying how the snow is struggling to settle and it's below freezing.
About 1cm here
-
I love my location, every time there is forecast snow for Wales/SW, I always get snow!
How much fresh snow have you had?
-
Barely a dusting here, about 1/2 a cm lol and it's been snowing for 1 + 1/2 hours. I will see what the rest of the night brings though..
-
what makes u think it wont last as long? Its due to stay heavy in newport until 3am thats a good 7 hours ....last friday was 5am until 10am so its got to be at least on a par with friday....think we are looking at quicker thaw tho
It's meant to stall and pivot over us but the forecasts are just predictions. It could do that but 40 miles to the west and we could then miss out.
In general though, forecasters are not confident about any possibility so it's just watch the radar and see where the PPN goes
-
I dont think so its going to be here all night! Since the last car passed over the road about 20min ago the tracks are already accumulating with snow again!
I hope you're right.
There are reports of light snow in Bristol though! We will have to wait and see what happens with the band

Torrential rain in Newport hammering the house and gusty winds (my poor snow sled has been blown down the garden), but no hail or lightening yet.
