Why can't the storms take a swing left towards us! They always swing off to the right when travelling in the usual direction not fair!!
Well the line that was over me, lightning free has gone west.

According to the Met Office Fax Chart the front was expected to be just to the west of Kent.at 06.00. The latest radar with the line of showers suggests it's now about to exit Kent. Not sure about the direction of movement as wind over Kent forecast to be NNE this morning.
As for yesterday's rain, the Met Office reporting 35mm at my local station (Wattisham) and the wettest place in the UK was Kenley, just south of Croydon with 44.6mm.
It's moving back west a little.

Trying to work out why the showers are moving north west, asumed it would be moving east. I take it the front is still somewhere west of us moving east?

Wow another pulse of heavy rain over similar areas as before.
-
Unless something strange happens, I think it will be moderate rain that comes here, as it's starting to lose strength now.
-
Well the showers that built here have now moved of to the north, or mingled with the rain depending on which side of kent. Now we await what the rain band will do when it eventually gets here.
-
How can this happen the rain band over Kent is defo heading NW in east kent, it was heading SE until a little while ago, super shield over me lol.

I shall remember that for future use. And now the stupid BBC app showing thunder storms for later! Stuff it, I'm going out with the hose to water my garden, waving my fists at the invisible shield
Dover, or at least the extreme south of it seems to have developed a shield recently.

Well the line of heavy stuff in kent has now lost intensity and seems to be moving slowly north away from dover

Quiet thunder here?
Possible, there was a strike in the north sea, north of Norfolk.

I think I'll name summer 2017 as the summer of severe downpours. Just had one (albeit with no thunder) that rivalled 25th June, 2016 in terms of long, intense rainfall. Roads and gardens flooded and unfortunately still lots more heavy rain to come. Oh well, I did wish for more rain...
Got a line of heavy stuff flirting with dover at the min, it's taking forever to get here.

Rain seems to be clearing through a lot quicker than forcast but 30mm recorded over west London with more to come
Not so sure about that, the southern eastern end of it hasn't really moved any further south for a while, it seems to be contracting a bit over london. In fact if anything it's moved very slightly NW.

an hour of torrential rain now, garden is flooding
Not looking forward to this lot, on a hill, about half way up. Above me nothing but mud, grass and chalk. Some lightning strikes appearing in the kent showers now.
-
temp 18, light winds, and pressure rising for some reason. Even the weather station is confused giving a forecast for fine weather at the min. The rain is not all that far away.
-
There are now also showers starting to build in front of the rain in kent. Looking interesting.

I'm still trying to work out why whatever that is in the channel is moving west, I though the fronts were supposed to move east today, but there's defo a front or trough or whatever doing the opposite, although very slowly.
