  1. Last night was a poor end to a pretty poor cold spell here. We managed one proper snowfall whilst most of the country saw several. Also, the snow we did get lasted about a day before it thawed rapidly. Hopefully February will bring something better!
  2. Medway has had 30 minutes of sleet and now nothing to top off a cold spell that has delivered little here but a lot to most of the country.
  3. The GFS has been completely wrong. If the GFS was right virtually no-one in the UK would be seeing snow bar high ground in the North.
  4. Still think the rain will turn more to sleet and snow as the precipitation levels pick up. More likely to be snow North of the Thames but a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow further South.
  5. I'm thinking that as the heavier ppn moves in we'll see more in the way of sleet and snow. I think some people may be speaking too soon!
  6. GFS shows barely any snow anywhere so I wouldn't say its been correct at all. Dew point here is still -2, by the way.
  7. Met Office have obviously seen something to warrant the update of their warnings. Think positive, people!
  8. Yep, most of us are now under a yellow warning for snow - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?regionName=se&tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=7&lon=-0.50&lat=51.35&fcTime=1359028860
  9. Latest National forecast from the BBC appeared to remove the snow risk for areas South of London.
  10. I haven't seen a single snow shower from an Easterly in over 2 years. Not all of us in Kent get plastered by snow in that setup!
  11. Latest NAE keeps the snow risk for some of us at least - http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=nae&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=prty&HH=36&ZOOM=1&ARCHIV=0&RES=0&WMO=&PERIOD=
  12. BBC South East just now showed the weather front falling mostly as snow across the South East.
  13. Snowing in Harrow again? Unbelievable. This cold spell has been decent here but we've only managed one proper snowfall and temperatures never dropped as far as I thought they might (mainly due to cloud cover). I'm glad we've had a break from the mild rubbish we normally have to put up with anyway and I'd be surprised if we don't see more cold weather this winter.
  14. Wouldn't bet against it. The models, in particular the GFS, tend to overdo Atlantic incursions and are often too progressive with any breakdown of blocking and cold conditions. Wouldn't surprise me if we did see a decent spell of snow though I do think the Atlantic will push through and bring milder conditions, at least for a while. My main concern for the chances of a breakdown being snowy is that the uppers won't be particularly cold, only around -4 to -6 I think.
