Quite looking forward to turning the central heating OFF for even a couple of hours while I am in the house and not under the duvet. If its not going to snow, this winter can go and do one ! And I need to buy a BBQ (charcoal not gas) Any recommendations ?

Had some seriously prologed heavy rain and showers here today, as many have said. Quite exciting to witness the first thorm i have seen for a good many months, tremendous black clouds with their toes hanging down (as I like to think of them) ! There is some serious doubt about what we are about to receive down here, probably the most doubt I have seen all winter from the forecasters.- 846 replies

Got to agree with that. In my opinion, they didnt tie up with MetO who, although not perfect, werent too bad. Everyone watches BBC and justifiably expects better from the Public Service Broadcaster- 775 replies

i love you all and i have alot of fun on here, its just the weather, but leads to life and death sometimes so we need to take responsibility. I especially have respect for our local authorities who lack funding to do exactly what we want, where we want, how we want..... and get on with it best they can No I dont sell tyres and I dont work for a local authority. I dont want an argument either- 775 replies

I completely agree with you, there is a cost, but i paid £55 each tyre for mine and they have done 3 winters so far. Much cheaper than crashing. Much cheaper than a day off work (i am self employed). Much enjoyment just driving past people who have got stuck. Much enjoyment and satisfaction a few weeks back in towing out a stranded family (including 2 young kids getting cold) in their 4x4 Toyota Hilux with the wrong tyres on it. True I will still get stuck behind other inconsiderate people who just balme the gritter , but thats life. I havent been held up yet so I'm happy.- 775 replies

And of course as we all know when we go to the Continenet, they put WINTER TYRES on their cars THROUHGOUT WINTER and it makes a huge difference to traction. I drive in Bulgaria some winters and and we drive along snow covered roads (cleared only by ploughs) up to 60mph. Salt and grit doesnt work anyway when there is loads of snow. There are still crashes because drivers push it, but not many people get stuck. You dont even need a 4x4, just winter tyres. In fact a 4x4 with the wrong tyres is nearly as useless as a 2WD with the wrong tyres. And heavier and harder to stop. I really DO WISH everyone would stop blaming the authoriites. Every blimmin time. Take responsibility for your own actions, maybe we will learn after many harder winters here in UK But a bit better from the METO would have been good.- 775 replies
