  1. That shower just made it over to Coulsdon. It was hail mainly here and has given the lawn a covering so it mainly looks white outside now rather than green. Temp dropped from 8.4c to 4.1c in the space of 3 mins.
  2. Came down to south wales yesterday. Rained during the night but woke up to 5cm of snow. Winter has arrived Still snowing
  3. Well a thoroughly wet and miserable day. 27.2mm rain so far, still pouring so think we will hit 30mm by midnight . Would have made one hell of a snowy day !
  4. As many have said, gusts of 60mph or higher happen every winter, but there is usually a window of peak gusts, on a squall line for instance, that last a hour and blow through (literally). Storm Isha has window as long as 8 hrs. Ive a feeling quite a few trees will be toppled from continual gusts over such a long timespan. Quite a few covered scaffolding structures may also topple as the act like large sails. We wait to see.
  5. -6.4c here this morning and got up t +2.7 this afternoon. Now at -0.1c I don’t think we will see many minus numbers down this way next week.
  6. The coldest night of winter so far. Currently -7.3c with dp -8c. It’s a shame there is no precipitation around to bump into this cold air.
  7. We crept up to the balmy heat of +1.6c this afternoon, but frost was still on most of the grass. Currently -6.1c in the coulsdon frost hollow.
  8. It’s not surprising but another chilly morning. Currently -3.8c dp -4c and clear at the moment before the cloud rolls in.
  9. We are several days away from the LP system approaching these shores and it'll only be 24 - 48hrs (possibly even 12 hours) from it reaching us that a more accurate track will be known and until then it will fluctuate around on every run. History shows us that as we get closer to the day the systems tend to move further south. It may miss us altogether, unlikely i think, but that would just enforce the cold. I'm sure somewhere in the UK will end up in the sweet spot, but it is unlikely that everyone will end up with 40-50cm's in their street. If it does this forum will meltdown and the heat from the servers may actually show up from satelite !
  10. No frost this morning . Temp 0.6c dp -2, but cold wind, especially standing on the platform waiting for the train this morning. Wrap up and stay warm everyone.
