-
snowing really heavily now in Coulsdon and has .just about covered the thick layer of ice , so its going to be tricky out there.
-
very light freezing rain here, and everything outside is lethal to even try and walk on. temp though is on the way down now having got above freezing for the first time in 3 days.
-
snowing quite heavily now and being blown around in quite a strong wind. last gust 53mph.

as Steve mentioned earlier we need to see if instability develops further east to the main low centre, and it does appear to be the case looking at the latest radar
-
looking out of the window we have very light flakes drifting down, which seems to tie in with the radar showing us right on the edge of the precipitation.. It seems the M23 is the barrier this time rather than the infamous M4

Just been out for a bracing walk and have to say the wind when it gusts, cuts right through you.
for those interested in how the country's power supply is doing i've attached the usual link below. it's been in amber the last few days but touched red a couple of times. if the gas supply goes then as you will see there isn't much spare capacity to call on.

it's been steady snow, with the occasional heavy burst, for the last hour here.it has recovered the road after the wind cleared it earlier
-
Snow pepping up here now and wind seems to have died down a bit.
-
Had probably 1cm more snow overnight. Temp went down to -13.7c

We have approx 1cm of snow cover here in Coulsdon but it' helped the temperature plummet tonight. Currently -10.1c dp -9c . A few showers would be welcome though.

At present in coulsdon it' s clear, cold and the stars are out. Not a cloud in sight. Hope for something later as a few of the beefy shows approaching the east coast are a bit more northerly so hopefully yhe can drift across.

Heavy Snow shower in city of London, that is actually lying on the various grass patches around. not on pavements though. Also a very brisk wind when crossing London bridge.

Just the odd flake falling here in Coulsdon at present

There' much talk about Friday and uppers being to warm, but I think given the cold pooling below and snow cover , coupled with the likelihood from meto of low stalling in channel that it will be snow all the way.
Mind you it is 5 days away yet, and we'e plenty to enjoy before then.

Beautiful winters day, but wind is definitely increasing and dew point was -4 at noon and is now -8 . We are on the edge of the Amber warning but in the past Coulsdon does quite well with Thames streamers, in 2010 we had 44cm up here on the north downs. I'e a feeling we might see similar or hopefully more by the end of the week.

Got a feeling we might see more from beast ii than beast I here in Coulsdon. We seem to be slap bang in the middle of the Amber warning area so probably good news they have finished putting my new roof on today☺
