Met ie seem to be amending their warnings

Regarding the warning by Met Eireann, the red warning is for the afternoon, the rest of the country is under Amber and yellow alerts up to that. I was listening to Gerard Fleming (former head forecaster) stating that they had to go full red countrywide as they expect country wide precipitation from the storm and it will be heavy and all snow. I don’t see any issue with the red warning at all!
Meanwhile in Dublin, the former snow shield has been blown away in the -2 wind and the windchill feels like -14! Snow falling constantly all morning and I now measure 10 inches in the back garden!
I think the issue is that some of the north west had seen nothing and according to the met office uk isn't expected to see anything. Just confusing and never seen such conflicting forecasts so not sure which to believe!

Just to add to the met ie red warning debate.
Is it not ridiculous to close schools in places that haven't seen a flake and aren't likely to see a flake.
yes there is always a chance but maybe a yellow or even amber be prepared might be more suitable!
-
Maybe met ie will downgrade warning based on latest forecast (particularly for Donegal) was a bit premature I think to call for everywhere to close down for two days!
-
Mad really met ie has a red warning with snow ice and blizzards for the whole of Ireland.
met office says a bit of heavy snow for south east of Ireland and the rest either occasional showers or completely dry!!

Snow to the north of me
Snow to the south
Here I am stuck in the middle with nought!
Yip!

Think the red warning from met ie a bit over the top. I've had work up here in the north west cancelled as a result.... won't be happy if I'm here this time tomorrow looking at the same starry sky as I am tonight!!

I'm resigned to not getting any snow over the next couple of days. My main disappointment now is that the low temps are wasted. For once we get the low temps this far West but no sudden onslaught from the atlantic. Would have loved a quick blast from the west to finish off!

But I'm not far from your location and my netweather forecast says 0% chance snow for Wed, Thur and Fri!
-
Chances of seeing ANY snow diminishing rapidly now!

Mmmm might get the grass cut today. Looks like I can carry on with Spring. Don't think I'll be heading to the shops to stock up on bread and milk anyway!!!
-
Sounds like the south and east are going to get hammered ?
I wonder how far north and west it can reach?

Unusual chart there boofer, I’ll be very surprised to see showers move that far west. More than happy is it transpires though!
Does that picture not say Mon 3/5/2018?!

Cold air doesn't seem to push as far West on the latest run. Not so good for this side, however I'm quite enjoying this calm bright weather. Good to get outside and do a few things, so not all bad!

Havnt posted at all with reference to this easterly because to be honest I’m far from convinced it is going to be that bad at all. As with most easterlies and the reason we rarely have them is because they generally get watered down, don’t make it here as they are not strong enough or basically hit Europe instead. I still feel regardless what models are showing this will he the form horse. Yes it will get colder but I don’t see bucket loads of snow or mass blizzards and people being cut off. Clearly I hope I’m wrong as one final blast would be nice but to be frank I’m so looking forward to spring now. But maybe once the phantom will show it’s face but sadly I don’t think that severe an easterly is inbound.
I agree

My prediction for next week is cold and dry with overnight frost and occasional wintry showers in the east. All over by the following weekend. No snowmaggeddon or ice age... or 2010 though agreed it will be much colder than recently.

Can anyone say is this an East only event? We got plenty of snow in 2010 but think I'm too far West for this one.....
-
Not too sure what everyone's expecting here?
Tomorrows forecast is snow SHOWERS there is no Snowmageddon!

Rain warning for today mentions the possibility of 5cm of above 250m and 1 to 2cm of snow is possible to low levels as the rain clears especially in the East.
Also really strange their snow warning for tomorrow hasn't been updated yet. Amber perhaps...
I really think once the band clears tonight it will only be showers and as I said before with the sunshine in between accumulations will be small for most tomorrow
-
Plenty of precipitation possible on Sunday however mainly in the form of showers, which during daylight hours will be interspersed with spells of sunshine so I don't think there'll be much opportunity for any build up of lying snow unless you have height.

For many yes....... but some of us have seen very little or no snow this winter so one more go wouldn't be too much to ask?! (So far I've been too far south... too far West... too far north...etc!!!!)
