  1. Watching the bbc forceast at 6.45am I would expect the warning areas to be moved around today, with the focus now being southern england, westcountry, wales, and northern ireland. I expect the amber warning to head south too, covering more of Dorset & Somerset than it currently does. Beat me!
  2. Im done with model watching now!, Will try to steer clear of models and forecasts today and then will be a surprise (or maybe not!) on Friday!
  3. If you take the computer models as gospel you will be disappointed.
  4. I think living where we are we have to take anything we can get! 2009/2010 were rare winters for here and probably a 15/20 year event, though we had one after the other.
  5. This morning online met office text forecast says snow Friday and Saturday with no mention of rain until Sunday, also mentions frosts in the east of the region over the weekend. I think it's going to continue to change forecast by forecast until weekend. Ian F's comments on Twitter last night seem at odds to other forecasts from Met.
  6. Im predicting a brief spell of snow for everywhere south of Bristol and West of Salisbury, will be more rain than snow, the met office are playing it safe as usual with blanket warnings.
  7. Its a shame and I hope the 'event' on Friday does come off, but compared to 2009 and 2010 this is not really anything out of the ordinary and I think secretly we all know other than a bit of wet slush on Friday that may just be it, I so hope I am wrong though!
  8. Hello, my first post so please be nice to me! I think the problem with the current cold spell is that the charts at more than 4-5 days out are producing lots of eye candy which the forecasters are leaping on and ramping up the situation. I can only really remember once or twice in the last 15 years that an Atlantic low has brought snow to the west country. And is this cold snap as 'serious' as the media are making out? In my mind temperatures down to -4 or -5 overnight should be standard winter fare and should produce some nice clear sunny days.
