  1. Yep been a brill day apart from having to drive to and from work twice cos the schools closed have loved tonight's snow drive home without the traffic climbing 200m in 10 mins on deserted lanes :-) :-)
  2. At the moment on my way home in my area it's sleet at 66m snow at just under 100m
  3. Just got in from Leeds crikey have all the gritters gone to bed ? Lol a good 20cm lying on top of the wheelie bin here :-)
  4. Yes I know HC, its been showing for a week at least only downgrading slightly for others outside our area nearer the time. I think GFS has been exceptional recently in its new form. I have a habit of supporting the professional forecasters as they are always on a hiding to nothing BUT I feel last nights forecasts suggesting sleet and rain in areas really were pee poor, roads near me were atrocious which resulted in a load of minor accidents and one major life threatening road accident which really should have been forecast more accurately or at least forecast with more a caveat that things could be significantly worse than current thinking blah blah
  5. Hasn't it been a cracking day though to say how many were po pooing that we wouldn't get any. I love optimism
  6. Temp has dropped a tad in Morley, snow is beginning to settle on the slush now
  7. I'm at work in Morley higher up than Batley ? Its clear/ slush on the roads at the moment, for the first time I can remember the local gritters have been out regularly here.
  8. Yeah back home no problems only thing stops me getting anywhere is people who are clueless how to drive in snow and either clog up the roads driving 2 mph or drive like idiots and come off the road it took 2 hours to get 25miles this morning and that's with clear roads
  9. Penistone high school and Silkstone common closed just collected kids on way from work in Leeds just as ithe weather is improving ! Back at home and it's about 5/6 inches I'd say it's put loads down since I went to work which was really unexpected
  10. Made it from Barnsley to Morley took 2 blinkin hours with clear roads grrrrr. Heavy snow when I left Dodworth on the M1, very light anything above Wakey. looks like 3/5 cm widely. I must say the GFS was spot on from what I can see this morning possibly slightly overcooked on the earlier runs but well spotted days before
  11. Light snow here but satellite suggesting its intensifying through South Sheff am hoping we all get a good dosing would love to prove mildy Darren Bett wrong
  12. Yep looking on the sat looks like the snow line there is above 200M This should come down as it runs into the colder air further north and east
  13. I particularly like the comment of not being sure about the northerly extent of the snow, I know on boxing day the heaviest prec moved north at the last minute and we ended up with 15cm from the forecast 2/5cm.
  14. Crikey its like waiting for Christmas wondering if you've been good enough to get any pressies
  15. I know what you mean, I think they do tend to fudge over areas where there's little confidence of what's going to happen. I find guessing what the radar is going to do next is much better than anything when looking a couple of hours ahead especially where snow is concerned.
  16. At the moment it looks like the same local areas as Boxing Day doesn't it but perhaps some surprising snow for the Humber areas. Higher parts of Sheff N Derbyshire up to higher parts of Barnsley getting the most then petering out the more north you go. As yesterday I am still hoping for a slight North correction to get more of us in the heavy snow firing line Fingers crossed folks
  17. Least its been better that last winter when not a flake settled, I think I've been spoiled with past winters up here with some mega 4/5 foot drifts but I would still gladly give up my forecast dusting in the next couple of days to give others on here a couple of hours of snowmageddon. Here's hoping guys !!
  18. Yes the models have been really poor. After last weeks forecasts I hoped for a week of heavy snow and freezing daytime temps, now it looks like being a bit of a wet squib. Very disappointing but not totally unexpected. I really do hope it delivers a few cm for some at least.
  19. Just been on Midlands thread and their local forecasts suggesting mainly rain for them so there is certainly a lot of confusion around amazing conflict between the models to say how close we are to the event.
  20. Me neither, maybe they are really nervous about making a judgement call until they really have to and are remaining uber cautious about causing undue panic ?
  21. It'll be interesting what the meto lunchtime update will be possibly a yellow warning for west South Yorks but I so hope it comes further North.
  22. Looks like latest charts suggesting heaviest snow to south west of our region. Midlands with elevation being the sweet spots. Hope we get a slight correction north.
  23. Lovely winter wonderland here this morning and looks like some more to come for an hour or two at lunchtime :-)
  24. Looking forward to the snow next week but not the drive to Work in Morley it takes hours in the snow all the trucks lining up to get over the M62 plus won't have time to play in it with the kids if it's midweek hope it lasts to the weekend :-)
