  1. yes your right, at least its going to feel cold and frost is always a nice second to snow for me as long as its wintry im happy lol! I think you hit the nail on the head with 'November', as it seems a few in the model thread in particular forget that it isnt even winter yet, still plenty of time left for snow
  2. Cant help but feel things have downgraded a bit for our regoin. The low on wednesday now seems to be too far east and contains a 'warm' sector which means we will probably all see rain
  3. Well its still looking good for us isnt it next week, especialy Tuesday - Thursday Should be some snow around hopefully, and even Paul Hudson said so, woop!
  4. SO, growing support in the model thread that a cold week next week could be setting up Lovely ECM tonight, for Yorkshire, it would shourly mean some snow about me thinks?
  5. Yes it was sleeting and hailing up at my level today this afternoon, was a nice surprise. Look North didnt mention anything about wintry showers yesterday on the weather but it was only 4C max today for me and those showers were a bonus!
  6. yes the rain today around lunchtime was torrential! certainly unexpected realy. Felt lovely and cold and autumnal though didnt it, car temp read only 9C coming home at 4:30. Its so nice to finaly lose the mild conditions that have hung around for so long. maybe even a touch of frost on the cards in some places tonight Winters coming!
  7. lets hope its better than the one yesterday cuz the trees didnt even move last night here! crap!
  8. Thanks for the replys guys Its great on here, even more so for a learner like me! I remember seeing a few posts in the model thread showing intense rain further north on the north side of the low i think it said. I guess it could have changed now though. Enjoy the ride everyone, its fun sharing my interest with all of you
  9. Hi guys I thought the north, whilst missing out on the wind, was going to get most rain? Looking at the radar for the past few hours, the heaviest rain is along the south coast and I cant see any northward movement of that at all?? Not much getting up to Sheffield it seems!
  10. Shame we'll miss the wind then, always love laying in bed listening to it Theres always the chance of a last minute turn north tho ey haha Having said that though, although we may miss the wind, we are still in the firing line for the heaviest rain are we not? I think the jist ive got from the storm thread is that its wind south and rain north?
  11. Yeah its blustery up here atm, some strong gusts I cant help feel like were going to miss out tomorrow though its all looking too far south. BBC weather website only says early rain clearing to showers and perhaps strong winds. Shame!
  12. Interesting fact that SB, and one I like It does seem that the winter climate has changed over the last few years doesnt it, and as a coldie its fantastic Lets hope winter 2013/2014 will be another good and snowy one for Yorkshire, we normaly get some good falls at least here compared to some other parts of the country.
  13. A lovely ECM run tonight if you like cold weather like me. UKMO looks to be close to it aswell from what ive read and seen in the model thread. its already fireworks in there lol and its only autumn! Its been mild for so long now that the end of this week and the weekend could be quite a shock and reminder that were now into October.....
  14. A few flashes of lightening and thunder in the past hour to the south east of Sheffield. The rain is very heavy now and the radar is very bright to a long way south, so it does look like the soaking is here. Shame were probably not going to get a proper storm though
  15. Looks like weve lost our chance of snow on Tuesday now It was looking like another slider earlier in the week, but temps look like being just too high unfortunately. Bye bye winter
  16. yeah the direct sun today is denting it even up here, but in the shade, its still very deep, especialy on the grass etc looks like another dry week coming up and with sunny days and temps around 7c i think were gradualy going to see the snow disappearing sad realy as there is no snow mentioned, i think we're just going to see this cold spell get mixed out gradualy without a snowy breakdown which is a shame as that will not do it justice i think! Have we already seen the last snowfall of this winter? im starting to think yes
  17. haha well ull do just as well up on the wolds or moors im sure like you say
  18. Its great living high up, absolutely love it There is still deep snow eveywhere up here at the moment, its a different world weather-wise to the centre of Sheffield
  19. Tonights Look North was different because of the BBC strike today, so it was a special trying to cover more regions. Anyway, what do you all think the chances of more snow are? The model thread discussion seems to sometimes tease about a reload or something in a few days and then other people think its too late. Im not skilled enough to realy know but obviously it can snow in April, and with this years special spring cold synoptics its probably a higher chance of that than normal?
  20. yeah dissapointing look north forecast, cold and dry is boring and is a massive waste of this lovely cold air what we realy want is a massive low slamming into this cold just like last friday and saturday lol
  21. just checked the radar, surprisingly more showers than i thought, even though they are light. a few of these overnight and a few of us may wake up to anther dusting i think, they look quite widespread atm.
  22. certainly light snow here again now, id call it fairy dust though BBC weather did say a bit more to come so perhaps a little top up by the morning for southern parts of our region Incredible 24-48 hours its been though, can you beleive its like the Alps out here and its the end of March. Certainly will be talked about for a good few years this!
  23. Hi PIT, yes ive been watching the radar just to the south of us in Sheffield as well, there does seem to be a little more organisation in the PPN atm, light snow here for the past few hours but now some heavier stuff showing. Lets hope it continues to develop for us
  24. theres so much PPN down to the south west, id say most of it in fact! we still seem to be on the north eastern boundary of it all. Is all that expected to come NE or is it due to stall and pull south before then?
