  1. Yes im still hopefull of some snow later. I woke up to a cm or so on the ground up here but since then it has been very light drizzle only. To me it looks like quite a bit of the front has gone past us north east, so with it expected to pivot and then pull south that lot should come back accross as snow once the temps have dropped later and the colder air is being pulled in
  2. So what time is the heaviest ppn going to be tomorrow then? does anyone know lol? there have been that many changes to the forecasts and the front its hard to tell now From reading above it sounds like the colder uppers wont start coming in until evening tomorrow and overnight into Monday but by then the BBC showed the front to have petered out. Does this mean the colder air will be too late? Lets hope not ey!!
  3. So many varying reports its hard to know what will happen lol! I dont think weve had such an uncertain forecast for a long time, at this range anyway. It might come down to radar watching tomorrow i think
  4. Thanks for letting us know! I was getting a little worried from yesterdays output and the meto warnings. Im a little more optimistic now of a decent fall of snow
  5. Yes indeed, Yorkshire looks the place to be for Sunday and Monday! marvelous!
  6. been a brilliant day in Sheffield today! Pure blizzard conditions this morning, best snow in ages, even better than the stuff we got 2 weeks ago! Only down side is i was 3 hours late into work lol cuz of the jams :\ Paul Hudson said were in less cold air now so thats why its raining, shame though as it has dented the snow quite a lot He showed more wintry showers over night though so it must only be a temporary change to rain, heres hoping anyway!
  7. Are those beefy showers going to make it from Ireland? Is that what the amber warning is for? Its just that watching the radar we seem to be spawning our own showers quickly from the NW coast of England and they develop rapidly. Another one buidling in now......
  8. yes even where I am, next to the peak district its just heavy sleet atm the ground is so soaking wet now will the snow settle when/if it finaly changes to it? lets hope so! The meto amber warning gives totals up to 15cm, do we think thats still achievable? Sheffield is right in the middle of the zone, i guess its wait and see what we wake up to!
  9. How much was your weather station if you dont mind me asking? Im tempted to get my own, and i know nowadays you can get quite advanced ones which you can connect to the computer with software and get readings etc....
  10. Excellent! I was just reading the BBC forecast for tomorrow and it does state that showers will turn increasingly to snow tomorrow, as you say especialy in the evening and overnight. I can see Sheffield doing well out of this kind of NW set up, lets hope so anyway! The meto have a yellow warning for snow now and the boundary nearly clips the west of the region so im sure we'll see a few flakes tomorrow
  11. Yes its so sad watching the snow get washed away, hate this bit lol! Been reading the model thread again tonight tho and there is some optimism building in there tonight that we will see something cold again in February so lets hope thats correct ey
  12. stoppd in Sheffield now too. seems to be a gap showing in the radar. there is more PPN north west heading our way for a bit later but i wonder if that will be snow aswell? done great so far tonight with a purely snow only event!
  13. the funny radar images are very annoying arent they! ive never known it do that before (im using the met office website) so many straight or sharp lines around, its hard to make out whats happening, why is it doing that? Its difficult to judge how much more there is to come, plenty of blues still out to the west heading our way, but with the strange echos and seemingly miss-matches in colour and intensity its frustrating haha!
  14. Hi. Thanks for the reply im in it for the long haul tonight anyway, sat here in the dark lol watching intently, so lets hope it keeps as snow so we get a final hurrah!
  15. so what are the chances of the milder air getting in before the front clears? Look North seemed to suggest it might turn to rain on the back edge but then max temps tomorrow are only 2 or 3c so doesnt look very mild tomorrow, seems we will only see a slow thaw tomoz.
  16. Hello everyone, my first post on the forum As you can tell from my name im a winter fan hehe, and I picked tonight to say hello as its a massive blizzard outside on the western hills of Sheffield Looking at the met office radar, all those lovely reds and pinks are heading our way, so the forecast for 10cm+ tonight may be accurate for once! Lets hope so ey, and I hope everyone in Yorkshire and Lincs gets the good stuff!
