  1. BBC forecast at 9.58 am this morning much more positive for lying snow in central southern England by tomorrow mornings rush hour
  2. Heavy snow in Reading for last 20 minutes. Settling on cars, roads etc.
  3. Light but steady snowfall here in Reading, has intensified a little in the last 20 mins.. We have had about 1.0 cm so far. Temp 0.1C
  4. Intensified considerably now just south west of Reading so we are definitely benefiting from the westward shift. Proper snowing!
  5. Woke up to a fresh dusting if snow this morning in Reading. Had very light snow on and off over the last half hour, a bit heavier now. I suspect we are on the very fringes here unlike you lucky people in Kent etc.
  6. Good evening Lorenzo. I'm new to this site and still learning but I wanted to ask if John Hammond is correct in saying that the current cold and snowy period of weather is at least party due to a SSW event? Can you explain. Thanks
  7. If you listen to John Hammond on the BBC weather web page he explains the the SSW is at least partly responsible for our current cold spell and although the SSW is reducing the effects will be felt for several more days. He explains that they were able to predict the current cold snap because of their understanding and monitoring of SSW.
  8. My understanding is that the SSW has ended or just about ended but the effects take time to filter down through to the lower atmosphere which is the effects we are feeling now.
