  1. Still chucking it down with snow here in Ipswich and settling on most surfaces, I reckon we have another hour before it turns here
  2. Moderate to heavy snow now starting to settle and replenish the thawed snow from yesterday
  3. Just down the road to you, it's just started to turn to wet snow here now too
  4. That's a shame it's game over all ready but as I said earlier that was a few cm's than expected and we've only just got into winter! Here's to more less marginal events going forward!
  5. Nice, thanks for the info Nick! Become much lighter snow here now, got 1-2 inches so not bad at all. Is the front meant to pivot and exit south east?
  6. Getting an absolute pasting here, main roads are treacherous. 50p flakes!
  7. Going to be interesting to see how this pans out tomorrow, loving these slight adjustments southwards. Only 24 hours ago over here in Ipswich we were due cold rain now with those lower DP's and a slight shift of the low and we are right in the game and there's not much further to go and the Kent crew are in it too!
  8. With such variance in the output after the initial colder shot from the NW, experience suggested that we will end up with a halfway house solution with HP slap bang over the top of us ( a la 0z ECM) giving us dry and cold conditions which would be a great start to winter. Still lots to be resolved in the coming days though...
  9. Agreed Frosty, looking great the next few days for many. Indeed summer has already arrived here in the southeast, the last 4 days temps have had temps in the low 20's with lots of sunshine with light winds. Thundery breakdown at the weekend and signs HP trying to nudge back in after the weekend which may up a NW/SE split but too far out to made call on that just yet
  10. I think coastal locations are making it marginal, still 100% snow here although struggling to settle on all surfaces as the rate hasn't picked up yet and the ground is quite damp
  11. Bigger flakes now, not really heavy yet but getting interesting and it looks like some darker returns on the radar incoming. You guys to the due south of me keep an eye out its heading your way. Looks like being marginal on the coast though
  12. Woke up to a surprise light dusting and a updated weather warning from the met office... radar looks good and now light to moderate snow falling!
  13. I can confirm after walking home from the pub that it's full on snizzle here in Ipswich! As you say Paul, that little bit of convection north of here around Southwold has started to get going hopefully increasing the intensity when the Belgian trough swings through too. Desperate yes but not without interest!
  14. Had a spell of light snow here for an hour or so but didn't settle, but nice to see nonetheless! Doesn't look like there's much more coming from the NE at the moment. Maybe us in the ne of the region are caught into between two air flows? It's amazing how often that happens in this part of the country, seems like only a sustained Nor easter will do!
  15. Hope so TEITS, only had a small amount of graupel here yesterday for about an hour and thats it so far. Be nice to get even temporary cover before spring arrives
  16. I agree, i think we will see something white falling from the sky here in this region, nothing noteworthy but something is better than nowt! I think the despondency has come from the background signals during the past few days suggesting we wont be seeing any greenland heights anytime soon post this cold snap. That coupled with some pretty poor winters snowfall wise in our little part of the world the past few years i think people are getting a little frustrated to say the least.
  17. Yup i'd agree with that, i think it will be more towards the north east of England that will bear the brunt of any decent snowfall this time, (we need a more of a straight easterly or the holy grail north easterly) although be prepared for surprises to crop up unannounced in the next few days. Beyond the weekend looks like a brief 'warm up' then beyond that who knows. A Greenland high has touted but plenty to hold our interest going forward for the rest of February
  18. Although looking a little less intense than yesterday i think most will see some flakes falling and certainly some settling especially if the front stalls slightly allowing the colder air to dig in after dark. Bonus snowfall which crept up on this region and perhaps further wintriness in the not too distance future so whats not to be happy about?
  19. Yeah can confirm very heavy snow now in Ipswich some huge flakes struggling to settle but I would assume that's down to relatively warm ground and slightly higher dp's? let's hope the feed keeps going as the temps drop but best since 2013
