I would suggest you select the ignore option if you dis like Andys views so much . Andy brings colour and vibrancy to the Wales forum , and although a tad excessive he isn't far off the mark usually . Take Andys forecasts and add a few degrees on top and you won't go wrong . It is not beyond possibility that there could be blizzards this weekend for the masses , but it is highly unlikely.

It's not going to go further west than Swansea I think . Hope I'm wrong but that's it for this winter potentially . Enjoy the last few days of cold folks !

Seriously it just is not . Not a single winter fly ! Heading back towards Sketty in half hour or so , suspect the front will move towards Morriston then and away from Sketty ! Lol Right on the periphery , need to edge west a tad more

After Friday it's a bonus anyway so if it doesn't snow I won't be frustrated as if it was a first fix . This is insane , its like a drug chasing the radar , willing it towards your location , lol need to get a grip ! I am in Morriston cross area at moment . And there is very definitely nothing here , all lamp posts are giving a resounding nada chant !

Anyone know why that band building up near the coast is struggling to make landfall? Splitting front? Stopped here swansea west for last hour now , very light fine grains floating about....looks darker though where the precip is...is it going to come on land or just tease? Want more want more !!

Late ish night last night , and have cancelled work tomorrow so can work from home instead , but how can we be expected to go to sleep with this mega event starting to unfold later this evening ? I suspect where I am in Swansea and west of here it will start as rain and we will initially be frustrated , retire to bed slightly irked , but awake in the middle of the night and find there is no sound of rain pattering the glazing .... This will then lead to a Thomson gazelle like leap out of bed to a blizzard fest outside !

Small area of precip making landfall in west Pembs ahead of the first band ... Any reports on this ? Swansea at 4 pm lower ground was 4-3 , higher ground 3-2 degrees dropped to 2 but has risen a few degrees since then . Any more and the barby will be considered ! The above temps are from my vehicle stat so will have a high tolerance band , but a good guide . Hope the colder air clashes quickly or it's rain to start .

Notice Dereks forecast has the southern reaches of the amber zone marginally further north as opposed to the met office zone which encompasses right down to the coast. How much are we talking just to get that amber zone covering coastal areas and further west? It really must be only 1 degree or so in it plus wind directions i guess Snow was not forecast earlier for this evening , so based on this error in our favour i am hoping they are being conservative with their forecast so as not to cause too much alarm.

Hmmmm Dereks latest forecast(approx 2pm) i do not like, still a fair way off , but the graphics and what he says send me on a downward part of the waiting for event to happen snollercoaster ride. Ups and downs, but the beeb forecasts i think you have to trust above nearly all who post on Net Weather. I look for a selected few posters comments, then compare these to the bbc graphics and i have to say that so far this winter they have been fairly accurate. Hopefully Derek is just downplaying it, but he has been burned before.... maybe he hasnt learned lol who knows !!

I think its going to be one of those events so finely balanced that higher ground 100m + in Swansea will fare much better than ground below 100m also in Swansea. It must be fairly rare that the weather or snow amounts could differ so vastly just in one city let alone 10 mile east or west. Keep moving West ! Give hope to Pembrokeshinarians!! Give snow to Milford Haven! Give FEET OF SNOW to Milford Haven. Is Milford Haven the most snowless place in Wales? If not which town is the worst off for snow in Wales?

National bbc weather showing quicker snow to rain event . But of a downgrade I think , but kind of expected this !!! Move West and upgrade please pretty please ! Usual high ground valley areas should fare much better than lowlands and west . I DEMAND THAT FRONT SLOW DOWN !!!!

Hiya guys and gals ! Whats all this i hear about blizzards then? blizzards in Wales? I heard stories of a blizzard in 1982 and Bonymaen in Swansea being cut off , but surely that cant happen again? Im morriston area by the way. Lol somehow a metre of snow is just a tad excessive, as is feet of snow. I predict appox 4-6 inches before a rapid melt from rainfall, as its just what always happens and there is no reason why it will be different this time. Its just not cold enough at present in my view, the cold just hasnt embedded in this area enough , maybe further east , definatly above 2-300 metres or so . Blizzards PFFFFFFFT
