  1. Bit of a cool down on the cards from next weekend, which is ideal for those thinking about putting Christmas decorations up, going to Christmas markets and so on. Hopefully no cold rain to go with it! I always pinpoint from this weekend onwards to start chasing the wintery dream! Think the 2009/10 spell started that for me Last year on Sunday December 11th I just about got home before it started pouring down with snow at about 6pm.
  2. Been a nice day working outside compared to yesterday. I'm not looking forward to the cold rain onslaught tomorrow though!! We really need some prolonged dry weather.
  3. Sunday December 11th we had snow, lasted in the garden for a whole week. 2009/10 End of November and then again a week or so before Christmas, which melted just before Christmas Eve here!!
  4. Does anyone know if we have had a weather warning for thundersrorms in November before? I just can't recall ever seeing one?
  5. Yeah, Wednesday looks a soggy one again!! If we have a wet Winter and that also includes any decent snowfall, some areas will be in serious trouble! The ground in some areas is absolutely saturated as it is.
  6. I for one am thankful to miss out on the worse of the wind (hopefully), perhaps it's an age thing. Last thing I need currently is to replace fence panels, roof(tiles) and what not. Saturated ground I'd say is the main concern, during my short journey today I noticed two walls down which both looked to be caused by saturated soil, that and probably not built properly, clay for example will swell when saturated, that creates movement and pressure on any wall/fence against it.
  7. 87 Storm was a weird one for us, All the family slept through it, it wasn't until we had to get up for Work/School we noticed all the damage in our road. How it never woke us up we still don't know! Roof tiles off, brick wall down, multiple fences down, big tree up the road down. Just so lucky it came at night. Regarding Thursday, plenty of back and forth with the positioning, we will know more tomorrow. If you're nervous about it, I really wouldn't hang onto every word in the forum, you always get rampers and downgraders to suit. We all know realistically that 50/60mph gusts can and will cause damage/disruption, let alone 70+ I'll be keeping an eye on the written updates from the Met Office.
  8. Looking a real nasty week ahead. The timing of Thursday also is going to be chaos as it currently stands.
  9. The one thing I like about this weather is that it gives me a good excuse not to do anything Thursday looking a real mess at the moment, heavy rain and strong gusts!
  10. Really noticed a change in the leaves the last 10 days or so, some starting to fall, lovely autumnal colours. i expect a big fall from the trees by next weekend, just in time for bonfire night!! Today really is a day for staying in, watching tv or listening to the radio whilst having one eye looking outside the window. We've already got a lovely Lamb curry in the slow cooker for this evening
  11. Just a username of someone that messaged the Beeb in my opinion, reporting rainfall amounts perhaps.
  12. Indeed Nick, I had a notification through about half hour ago stating the warning has been Cancelled for here in the SE (Kent).
  13. Just had a notification that the weather warning from the Met Office has been cancelled for tomorrow here (Kent)
  14. Anyone else have a strange looking sky colour this morning? Yellow(ish).....I'd usually associate it with the look of an incoming storm.
  15. Having recently replaced some fence panels, I'm pleased that Storm Agnes looks to be missing us midweek, however will be keeping a close eye just in case! Lovely day outside today, very useful weather, long may it continue for a while yet.
  16. Certainly is, I'm not sure what to expect for my location tbh. Main lot looks to go West of me imo. Looking at the smaller clusters forming with interest!
  17. A bit of very fine light drizzle as I passed through the Medway Towns 5 minutes ago, nothing was showing on the radar though.
  18. Small chance of a sleet/wintry Friday for mainly the North of our Region and East Anglia? As the system slips back in and Milder air pushed back to our SE? Slim Pickings but something to keep an eye on.
  19. Is that simply because you only had a fartful in Essex DJ Fart? Mid December I had snow "covering" for a week!! Today a few CMs...can't complain IMBY but understand why others would when it doesn't go the way we dream of.
