  1. I was unsure a couple of hours ago with that hazy look to the sky, but its cleared up and is just beating down. I've stepped out a few times and plan to go for a small walk when it hits the peak (partly because I never thought I may be able to get the 38C badge on my Garmin watch!) for an activity.
  2. 27C already, the sky is hazy again but sun appears in bursts. I hope we can squeeze 100F today here.
  3. 36.2 in Nantwich. Once again hard to believe but for myself it feels quite nice. I'm lying outside, dog is in the shade and there is a little breeze passing through. Was hoping we'd edge towards 38 but nevermind.
  4. Felt relatively cool at 5am, and managed to cool the house down a few degrees on last night. Quite hazy this morning, even here in Birmingham. Curious to see how high we get today, I'm estimating 38C rather than 40.
  5. Nantwich was the hottest place in England today at 32c. Was surprised by that though we also had the record on New Year's Day when it was unseasonably warm. As I said earlier it wasn't all that uncomfortable outside and it was quite hazy so with clear skies tomorrow it's going to be fascinating to see what we get too. I'm up and out early, leaving work at 2pm to at least spend the afternoon on a record breaking day.
  6. Lots of stubborn cloud around so far, seems to be covering the Cheshire gap. It's warm at least underneath though.
  7. North West Tonight said the record for the area is 34.5C set in Nantwich in 1990. Looks like that will be smashed. Curious if Nantwich could be one of the hotspots again this time?
  8. I wasn't sure this heatwave was going to produce much up here but the firming up at this range of temps is insane. I've experienced 38C once in Dallas TX and it was fine as low humidity. 34C in the Houston humidity is not so good!
  9. Was this the same report where one of the old women went 'Ooh this is lovely weather, let's make the most of it' or something along those lines, contradicting the reason for the story.
  10. A stunning end to the day, not a cloud in the sky on this longest day. Much prefer these cloudless sunny days rather than the plumes of polluted continental air like last week where it just clouds over by lunchtime.
  11. Quite breezy but warm. Looks like cloud is building in now, classic high temp day.
  12. It's gone from a lovely clear morning to cloudy this afternoon here in Nantwich.
  13. Feel sorry for parties today, there hasn't been a break in the clouds and drizzle pretty much all day and it's cold too! I guess for those who could change it in advance they should have seen the forecast was never going to be great today but understand some would have been fixed to parties today.
  14. Beautiful day for pub garden, felt warm earlier but breeze picked up now but still busy in the gardens.
  15. Stunning day and warm in the direct sun. A lovely sunset this evening followed by a full moon rise which looked spectacular. A chill in the air however but we had similar with all those frosts last March into April and some fine weather. I'm sure these days Spring is the best season of the year.
  16. A very dry wind the last two days which has created a lot of dust living on a new build site. Seems back the muddy dampness though later in the week.
  17. Just hit the squall line on the M62 across the tops, you couldn't see a thing and our minibus was shaking.
