  1. Uttoxeter looks like its been hit by two intense cells. Lucky buggers. Everythings too far east now. Radar showing no promising signs for here now
  2. Another lightning bolt then and the thunder suggested it was close. Thing is I see nothing on the rader to say there is a storm close now. Anyone explain?
  3. The best cells are too far south east now. Saw a flash about 20 minutes ago and thunder and then nothing but the sky is evil. Looks like we are on the edge of the rainband instead now.
  4. A cell passed over head around 30 minutes ago. It seemed to have weakened in terms of electrical activity but still some good rumbles of thunder and the rain was just insane. I've seen storms in Texas and Florida but that rain was gushing along with a strong gust making it even more incredible. Got some footage to upload and photos later.
  5. Was it better than Tuesday mornings storm? Sad I missed this on my day off too as like someone else I was in Chester where skies threatened but nothing. Saw the tail end of a storm heading north east though whic had dumped a lot of rain. Wonder if we will get any more?
  6. I think a storm passed Stoke around 3pm but typically I was out the area. Nothing since but my old hometown of solihull looks like it is getting battered!
  7. A cell is over Stoke at the moment. Only thunder and some torrential downpours.
  8. A cell is heading across Stoke at the moment. Some heavy rain and a few rumbles of thunder but no lightning.
  9. Bucketing down here still. The intensity is the talking point but no problems yet...though we are now under an Amber watch.
  10. Heavy rain here in Stoke and no sign of anything stormy. Minor flooding will be the issue if this carries on...but i did expect more imbedded storms in the system. any chance of activity picking up or is it staying out east?
  11. Yes watch it on iplayer in a bit or catch him after 10pm news when the bulletin is longer.
  12. Ah but did you see the 6pm news bulletin? Jay Wynne is a very conservative forecaster but Tomasz really ramped it up with 'dangerous storms' and 'record breaking minimum temperate' night.
  13. A few pics from the Staffs Moorlands...I went in the hunt of a decent snowdrift. Totals in places were small...but then where drifting occured it was at least 7ft high. Impressive job of keeping the roads clear. Here is the more conservative total at mine...though this is the deepest we've had it...exceeding Jan particulary on the side of the garden where it was drifting. The wind has been relentless for days now and is still blowing raw. Overall very impressive...roads are clearing now but the totals in the Peaks are epic. Managed to drive as far as the Leek to Buxton road before it warned of a closure. A few 4x4's drove past the warnings.
  14. I do believe that Stoke authority hasn't bothered with the country lanes. Cross into Staffs Moorlands and lots of the side roads I drove round Endon/Longsdon were clear. Very impressed really.
  15. Leek is fine. Drove down the A53 earlier...clear all the way. Impressive drifts in Endon. Got as far as the first pub as you approach the Peak District where the road was closed. Moorlands council have done a fine job clearing roads...even the country lanes were clear!
  16. Just an idea of conditions in the wind here. The depths aren't impressive out the front where the wind blows...but my other video from the garden is better,
  17. I'm on Norton Heights...not that far as the crow flies...the altitude must be really helping you. We have some mini drifts...must be about 6 inches level on grass and drifts are way higher against the fences. The problem now is the snizzle falling. Its still so gusty as well. One of the showroom flag poles has lost its flag which is unusual.
  18. Where are you based on outskirts? Here we have around 5cm...it is quite wet stuff. I did expect more than this really. The wind is the issue mind.
  19. Sticking now in Stoke. The wind is really blowing...not seen this before with snow.
  20. My thoughts...a great spell in Stoke-on-Trent...the deepest snow since I moved here 5 years ago. I'm pretty sure last nights snow goes down as the most epic I've come across, originally coming from Solihull. As a few people have reflected...it was never bone chilling cold apart from the first Friday snow event when the wind was ice cold. For me personally...we've had snow on the ground since Jan 14th...so near enough 2 weeks which is always a bonus. The first Friday event was fantastic...proper powder snow and so light on the ground. Caused chaos and I'll never forget that evening. A few top up showers and bands since leading up the epic battleground last night...a weird mix of ice/sleet/snow initally and then just fantastic big snow...the wet kind mind. Two different events, a week apart but both superb. And that is it. The roads are a slushy mess now...deep slush is not good! It was a quiet drive to work this morning...the car was scrapping the snow underneath. So for me 8/10...just never had the low temps we had in Dec 2010 and longer snow cover then but we never had it that deep.
  21. Snow lulled and has picked up again now...can see there was a gap in the radar briefly.
  22. Slightly higher altitude here as on top of a hill as it were...so probably done better than some parts of the city for depths. Seen some bad images tonight though of people stuck.
  23. Just checked...4 inches from this evening alone where it had melted away completely at the side of the house. Snow started to get lighter now..radar showing the front nearly cleared over Wales.
  24. Hard to say... I reckon about 3 inches at least today..maybe more. We have had snow on the ground since Mon 14th Jan.
